Tennis Tips today – Matches today 14.04.

The champion of Monte Carlo 2022 will already be decided on Sunday. Will Stefanos Tsitsipas be able to defend his title? The two who were at the top of the bookmakers’ favourites are already out!

Both Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaras were embarrassed in their opening matches. Of course, this opens up great chances for Alexander Zverev to perhaps give the tournament a German winner.

For this Thursday, the schedule again includes several top matches, which is logical, after all, the trophy will be awarded in just a few days. Favourites have already failed in Miami and Indian Wells, and that seems to be continuing in Monte Carlo.

Tennis tips today – 14.04.2022 preview

A defending champion needs to start confidently, which is exactly what Stefanos Tsitsipas did in his 1st round match. Now he gets to face Laslo Djere, who has made a strong impression. Will he also be able to annoy the Greek?

Problems, but only those he can handle himself, that’s how it looks for Hubert Hurkacz so far. The Pole is still having a hard time on clay. He has already beaten a Spaniard in Monte Carlo, but can he do the same against Albert Ramos?

Whoever beats Novak Djokovic and downright humiliates him in the third set is in the spotlight for a reason! Alejandro Fokina had a great day, but now he has to confirm his performance. His opponent: David Goffin.

One of the absolute title favourites after the elimination of Alcaraz and Djokovic is Casper Ruud. The Norwegian struggled to reach the next round, but he should definitely improve his performance against Grigor Dimitrov.

Sebastian Korda, many have now also remembered this name. After his win against Carlos Alcaraz, the next Masters winner is waiting: Taylor Fritz! Who will win in the American duel?

Tennis tips today: Where are the matches on 14.04.?

We won’t be able to see the rallies in Monte Carlo on free TV, but those with a Sky subscription won’t miss a thing. The teams will be on site from 11 a.m., but of course everyone can also watch via SkyGo. Important: From 16 April, Easter Saturday, SkySport 1 will be joined by SkySport 2.

Tennis tips today 14.04.: Laslo Djere – Stefanos Tsitsipas (11:00 a.m.)

6-3, 6-0 against Fabio Fognini, what a tournament opener from Stefanos Tsitsipas! The world number 5 wants to defend his title in Monte Carlo, if he sticks to his recent performance, the chances are very good.

And this despite the fact that in his 1st round only 53% of his first serves were successful. There is potential for improvement, with 1.10 to 6.20 he goes into his match against Laslo Djere as the clear top favourite.

But the Serb should definitely not be underestimated. After defeating Maxime Cressy 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, he won outright against Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 6-4. So both have already beaten an Italian.

He only allowed two breaks, will he be able to maintain this level against Tsitsipas? A few weeks ago in Acapulco there was the only direct duel so far. This one went to the favourite, but he had to show all his skills to win 7-6, 7-6!

Our expert tip: Djere wins the set

Tennis tips today 14.04: Hubert Hurkacz vs Albert Ramos (12:20 pm)

Hubert Hurkacz on clay, does it suit? The Pole has been quite strong in recent weeks, not everything is going flawlessly in Monte Carlo yet. He started a bit cautiously with a 7-5, 6-4 against Hugo Dellien.

In the following 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 against Pedro Martinez, he had to fight even more, although he only let his opponent break once. Hurkacz, double champion in Miami, is also strong on his own serve on clay.

He will now meet Albert Ramos for the first time. The 34-year-old veteran seems to have big plans in Monte Carlo, advancing twice after three sets. First, he beat Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, then Cameron Norrie was defeated 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

Ramos knows how to play here, having fought his way to the final in 2017! He defeated several top stars before Rafael Nadal was too big for him. With odds of 1.60 to 2.20, Hurkacz is therefore only slightly ahead.

Our Expert Tip: Over 22,5 Games

Tennis tips today 14.04: Alejandro Fokina – David Goffin (13:30)

He almost beat the No. 1 in two sets, but in the end it was 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. Alejandro Fokina really taught the great Novak Djokovic a lesson, although he only used nine of his 20 break chances!

A great day for the 22-year-old, who now meets David Goffin. Fokina was able to improve on his performance in the opening victory over Marcos Giron. As weak as he was in the last tournaments, he is now in top form.

His Belgian opponent also wants to show that past performances are no benchmark for him. Goffin celebrated smooth victories over Jiri Lehecka and Daniel Evans, suffering a single break in the process.

Ranked 47th against 46th, according to the world rankings, we can expect an absolutely even duel on Thursday. The Belgian won the only direct match on grass three years ago. 2.00 to 1.80, this time Fokina is also the slight underdog.

Our expert tip: Victory Fokina

Tennis tips today 14.04: Casper Ruud – Grigor Dimitrov (15:00)

Among the top favourites but almost eliminated in Round 1? The fate of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz almost befell Casper Ruud. He just barely escaped elimination in a 7-6, 7-5 loss to Holger Rune.

Considering that he is one of the best players on clay, he didn’t manage enough. Or was he still a bit tired after losing the final in Miami? In his second match, he is again favoured with odds of 1,30 to 3,50.

But anyone who underestimates veteran Grigor Dimitrov is likely to make a mistake. The 30-year-old first beat Nikolos Bassilashvili, then came back from 4-6 down against Dusan Lajovic to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Nearly 80% successful first serves and only two breaks allowed, he is looking to bounce back after his poor Masters in Miami. The only direct duel last year, however, went to Ruud, who triumphed after three sets.

Our expert tip: 2:1 Ruud

Tennis tips today 14.04: Taylor Fritz – Sebastian Korda (15:40)

Both are young, both from the USA, both measure 1.96m – will it be close between Taylor Fritz and Sebastian Korda on the court? The 21-year-old Korda caused quite a stir with his win over Carlos Alcaraz.

At 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 he gave his opponent 19 break chances. How good is this man when he stops making his own mistakes? By the way, he made use of seven out of ten himself, which is a very good rate.

Taylor Fritz is struggling from round to round in Monte Carlo. First he was successful 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 against Lucas Catarina, avoided the very early exit. In the 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Marin Cilic, he again had to summon up all his strength.

This did not have much to do with Taylor Fritz, who won the Masters at Indian Wells. Against Cilic, only about 50% of his first serve made it over the net. This is probably one of the reasons why he and Korda are almost evenly matched with odds of around 1.85.

Our expert tip: Korda to win
