Tennis tips today – Matches today 13.04.

New day, new luck! The first of three Masters on clay picks up pace again on Wednesday, moving in leaps and bounds towards the final on Easter Sunday. Some stars haven’t even entered the tournament yet!

For the best, it really starts today, and German hope Alexander Zverev will also serve for the first time. The Olympic champion has not had an easy draw and will be challenged right from the start.

Carlos Alcaraz, the top favourite and Miami champion, will also get into the action. There is really no reason to complain about a lack of excitement in the 3rd round, because numerous top 10 players are on the court.

The search is not only on for Stefanos Tsitsipas’ successor, but also for his own form. It’s not too long until the French Open, so there’s not much time left to adjust to the clay.

Tennis tips today – 13.04.2022 preview

At 11am we’ll see the first serves again, and it’s about to get off to a really high-class start. Carlos Alcaraz is one of the top favourites and is strong on clay anyway. Will Sebastian Korda, the American super talent, be able to keep up?

Another Masters champion has to play early, namely Taylor Fritz, the winner of Indian Wells. He won’t be presented with an easy opponent either, he will have to stand up to veteran Marin Cilic.

Felix Auger-Aliassime was completely out of form recently. The young Canadian failed time and again in the first round and now has to see that he can hold his own against Lorenzo Musetti. At 1.40 to 2.90, he is still the favourite.

Can Andrey Rublev prove himself in the absence of compatriot Daniil Medvedev? In Miami he was outplayed by Nick Kyrgios, on Wednesday everyone is counting on a win against Alex de Minaur.

While Oscar Otte has already been eliminated, Alexander Zverev must once again keep the German flags flying high. With Federico Delbonis, he has to play a man against whom he has won twice very narrowly. Will he stumble again?

Tennis tips today broadcast: Where are the matches on 13.04.?

Since we are dealing with a big 1000 in Monte Carlo, Sky is of course live. Until Friday, all the matches can be followed on Sky Sport1 from 11 a.m., and then Sky Sport2 will join in just in time for the weekend. Of course, you won’t miss any of the rallies if you stream them via SkyGo.

Tennis tips today 13.04.: Sebastian Korda – Carlos Alcaraz (11:00 a.m.)

One is 21, the other 18. When Sebastian Korda and Carlos Alcaraz face each other on Wednesday, not a few will be talking about the new generation. The Spaniard may be the younger, but he has already celebrated more successes.

2022 has been his year so far, and in Monte Carlo he wants his third title. He will only start against Korda, but loves the sand anyway. With odds of 1.20 to 4.20, he is clearly favoured. A year ago, he won the only duel against Korda so far at the Next Generation Finals.

Of course, the 1.96m tall American should not be underestimated. He already had to start the tournament, did so with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win over Botic van de Zandschulp. In recent tournaments, he often failed early, but also always narrowly.

The world number 42 is competing in Monte Carlo for the first time, and the same goes for his colleague who is three years younger. But Alcaraz already has a Masters title in his pocket.

Our Expert Tip: Under 23.5 Games

Tennis tips today 13.04: Taylor Fritz vs Marin Cilic (12:20pm)

How does the Indian Wells winner do on clay? Taylor Fritz came within a whisker of embarrassing himself, barely scraping out a 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 win over Lucas Catarina. The American had already failed early in Miami and Houston.

His serve is not yet as good as he would like on the slow clay, and now he will play Marin Cilic for the third time. Both players won once each, the two duels were hard-fought at three sets.

Cilic, at 1.98m even 2cm taller than his younger rival, was much smoother in his first round, although he is considered more of a green grass specialist. He dispatched Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 6-1.

86% won points on first serve and no break chance granted, that should be hard to crack even for Fritz. In his last two appearances, Cilic was knocked out directly in Monte Carlo; that can’t happen to him again in 2022.

Our Expert Tip: Win Fritz

Tennis tips today 13.04: Felix Auger-Aliassime – Lorenzo Musetti (13:30)

Felix Auger-Aliassime entered the Grand Prix Hassan II as a big favourite, wanting to finally break the curse of the final. But it didn’t come that far, because the Canadian already failed against Alex Molcan.

No question, he is completely out of shape. In France, he lost a final against Andrey Rublev, but then he crashed and was eliminated immediately after the first game in the last few tournaments.

The world No. 9 has dueled Lorenzo Musetti twice in the past year, both duels went to three sets and had a different winner each time. Twice 1st round, once 2nd, Monte Carlo has not been a good place for Auger-Aliassime at all so far.

Lorenzo Musetti was able to test the court in his first round against Benoit Paire. With a 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 score, no spectator was bored. The Italian, who has been mediocre in the last few tournaments, also benefited from the fact that Paire had a weak day.

Tennis tips today 13.04: Andrey Rublev – Alex de Minaur (15:00)

Since the end of the Corona break, Andrey Rublev has been the most successful player on the ATP Tour. The Russian has already snatched two titles this year, so it was all the more surprising when he fell powerlessly to Nick Kyrgios in Round 1 in Miami.

A year ago, Rublev showed fantastic performances in Monte Carlo, beating Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud among others. In the final, however, he was unable to do anything and was beaten by Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Speaking of being beaten, he has lost both previous duels with Alex de Minaur. Four years ago, the Australian was twice stronger. He started his Masters with a commanding 6-3, 6-4 win over Bruno Zapata Miralles.

In the last tournaments, de Minaur usually failed very early, but was also always unlucky with top-class opponents. With odds of 1.25 to 3.60, the bookmakers have nevertheless clearly sided with Andrey Rublev.

Tennis tips today 13.04: Federico Delbonis – Alexander Zverev (15:00)

No good performances, the freak out in Acapulco – Alexander Zverev finally wants to write positive headlines again. He wants to be at the top for the first time at his home tournament, although he only likes the slow clay of Monte Carlo to a limited extent.

He has already made it to the quarter-finals in doubles, and his first singles match is scheduled for Wednesday. His opponent: Federico Delbonis. Despite odds of 1.15 to 6.50, it could be close, as the two duels so far have been hair-raising.

Delbonis had Zverev on the brink of defeat twice. He had to leave some forces behind in his 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to start with against Jaume Munar. However, 74% won points on second serve was a strong score.

The world number 34 made it to the 3rd round of Monte Carlo for the first time last year, but lost there without any chance against Rafael Nadal. Is the third in the world now the end of the line again?
