When is the Hamburg Davis Cup 2022?
The group phase will start in Hamburg on 13 September 2022.
The tournament will be played at the traditional Rothenbaum stadium in the Harvestehude district, where the ATP and WTA events are usually held once a year. The stadium was newly renovated two years ago and has 10,000 seats.
In contrast to the Hamburg European Open, however, the matches in the Hamburg Davis Cup 2022 will be played on hard court and under a closed roof – regardless of the weather.
This is also the rule at all other Davis Cup venues (Bologna, Glasgow and Valencia) this week.

The Mode
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the final tournament, which will be held this year in Malaga from 24 to 27 November.
The pairings in the final tournament:
1st Group A – 2nd Group B
1st Group C – 2nd Group D
1st Group B – 2nd Group A
1st Group D – 2nd Group C
This means that should Germany be in first or second place after the three group matches at the HAmburg Davis Cup 2022, they will go on to the Davis Cup final tournament – against the first or second in Group D. That could be Great Britain, USA, Kazakhstan or the Netherlands.
If they only finish third or fourth at their home tournament at the Rothenbaum, the Davis Cup season is over for the DTB selection.
