Miami Open 2022: The favourites in the betting odds
Who are the favourites for the Miami Masters 2022? A question that is not too easy to answer in the run-up for various reasons.
The bookmakers and their Miami Open betting odds do have a clear favourite in Daniil Medvedev before the start of the tournament – but the Masters in Indian Wells in particular showed that a lot is possible in men’s tennis at the moment.
Thus, the list of favourites for the Miami Masters 2022 is quite extensive.
In the absence of the injured Rafael Nadal, who has dominated the season so far, it ranges from Medvedev, who is seeded No. 1 in Miami, to Alexander Zverev, young star Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz, who surprisingly won in Indian Wells.
Who will win the Miami Open 2022? A favourites check before the tournament starts.
Daniil Medvedev, the favourite for Miami betting odds 2022
Daniil Medvedev may be the current No. 2 in the ATP world rankings and, in the absence of world No. 1 Novak Djokovic (not allowed to enter the US as a Corona inoculation), the No. 1 seed at the Miami Open 2022, but he is also currently a bit of a surprise package.
The 26-year-old Russian played a strong season until recently – final at the Australian Open and semi-final in Acapulco. Both times he lost to Nadal. In Indian Wells, however, he fluffed and already failed in round 3 against Gael Monfils.
What will Medvedv achieve at the Miami Masters 2022?
It doesn’t seem to be his favourite tournament. His best result in three appearances: quarter-final last year.
Miami betting insider Carlos Alacaraz
An insider tip at Miami Betting and Odds could be Spain’s young star Carlos Alcaraz.
Not only did the 19-year-old produce numerous bests in his youth, even trumping Nadal, but he has also been playing very strongly of late
In Indian Wells, Alcaraz reached the semi-finals and was only beaten by Nadal there.
In the absence of the season’s dominator, the Spanish shooting star might have his moment at the Miami Masters 2022. In the Miami Open odds and betting on the tournament victory, Alcaraz is even in the top field before the start of the tournament!
The Alexander Zverev Puzzle
Germany’s current best tennis player has not covered himself in glory recently. At the tournament in Acapulco, Alexander Zverev caused a mega éclat when he hit the umpire’s chair with his racket.
The public reaction may hurt him more than he would like. At the Masters in Indian Wells, after a walk-through in round 1, he already failed in the 2nd round, which is de facto the same as an opening defeat.
Before that, things did not go well for Zverev either. An early exit in Montpellier and also at the Australian Open made for a rather poor start to the season.
What are Zverev’s chances for the Miami Open 2022? According to the Miami Masters betting odds of the bookmakers, Zverev’s chances of winning the title are quite good. In some cases, he is even seen as the first challenger to bookmaker favourite Medvedev.
Miami Open betting odds
Who else besides Medvedev, Alcaraz and Zverev could be in contention to win the 2022 Miami Open title? The honest answer: very many.
If we go by the rankings in the world rankings, Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5), Matteo Berrettini (6th) and Andrey Rublev (No. 7) are three contenders for the Miami tournament victory.
Rublev in particular was convincing in Indian Wells, reaching the semi-finals.
Behind this trio, however, there are other favourites. There is the world number eight Casper Ruud, Italy’s youngster Jannik Sinner, CAmeron Norrie (quarter-final Indian Wells) as well as last year’s Miami winner and defending champion Hubert Hurkacz.
And then there is Taylor Fritz, who caused a surprise by winning the title in Indian Wells. Whoever can win in the Californian desert can also win in Miami.
The Miami Masters prize money 2022
The prize money of the Masters1000 tournament in Miami this year amounts to 8,584,055 US dollars.
The tournament winner will receive 1,231.24 USD… In addition, he can look forward to 1000 world ranking points.
The finalist will receive 500 points for the world ranking as well as $ 646,110 as a “consolation prize” for losing the final.
