Wimbledon 2025, 3rd round, Friday, 05.07.2025, 8:30 p.m.

Checked off, no extra round, easy win – duty calls again in a few days. Novak Djokovic is aiming for his 25th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

The veteran easily defeated his first two opponents, and now a fellow countryman is waiting to knock him out. How likely is this to happen? I try to answer this question in my Kecmanovic Djokovic prediction.

My betting recommendation for you: The seven-time Wimbledon champion will secure another clear victory.

The goal for Wimbledon is clear: to win the title. Novak Djokovic is competing to win his eighth trophy in London, which would also be his 25th Grand Slam title.

The 38-year-old hasn’t been playing as many tournaments for years, so it’s no surprise that he’s been quietly preparing for the grass court season.

For the Serb, Roland Garros ended with a clear defeat in the semi-finals against Jannik Sinner. Djokovic started at Wimbledon with a match against Alexandre Müller, and the grand master allowed himself a brief moment of weakness.

In the end, he took home a 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory, losing one set without conceding a break in the entire match. His 22 aces and 82% first serve points won were also impressive.

A few days later, Djokovic faced Daniel Evans. The current world number 6 had no trouble at all, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-0.

Opponent breaks? Not a single one. Points won on serve? 89% in the first set and 82% in the second – it doesn’t get much better than that. After the match, Djokovic expressed his support for the injured Alexander Zverev, who had already been eliminated.

Whether on or off the court, Djokovic is giving his opponents no room for criticism these days. He doesn’t know his next opponent, fellow countryman Miomir Kecmanovic, very well from a sporting point of view, as they have only faced each other three times in competition.

The last time they crossed paths was in 2022, also at Wimbledon. Djokovic leads 3-0 in their head-to-head record, which was to be expected. Let’s take a quick look at our tax-free bookmakers and see who is ahead on Saturday.

Actually, that’s a pointless question. Djokovic goes into the match with average odds of 1.03 to 13.0, which was to be expected. Kecmanovic has nothing to lose, but is the lack of pressure enough to cause an upset?

The 25-year-old has reached the third round at Wimbledon for the third time in his career, the furthest he has ever gone. He has certainly shown some grit in recent years, starting with a five-set match.

He defeated Alex Michelsen 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6, a match that could have gone either way. Kecmanovic lost the first set 1-6 to Jesper de Jong, but then staged a remarkable comeback.

6-3, 6-2, 6-4, he played confidently throughout. With 78% of points won on his first serve and 71% on his second, his statistics were impressive.

His preparation for Wimbledon has been anything but smooth. He was knocked out in the first round in both Halle and Eastbourne, losing to Daniel Evans and Fabian Marozsan in three sets each.

My Kecmanovic Djokovic tip

Does Novak Djokovic still have everything under control at Wimbledon? After a slight wobble against Alexandre Müller, he played his game without any problems against Daniel Evans, with his serve working well in both matches.

In my opinion, Miomir Kecmanovic cannot keep up with his compatriot. The 25-year-old has already dropped three sets and had to expend some energy. Therefore, I am quickly deciding on the following bet:

Djokovic will win easily against Kecmanovic!
