French Open today – Matches on May 27.

The last matches of the first round of the French Open are on the schedule today, marking the start of the second major of the year for Germany’s number one, Alexander Zverev. The Hamburg native has not been in top form recently.

He was knocked out in the second round in his home country, lacking physical freshness after suffering from gastrointestinal symptoms the night before the match. He previously reached the quarterfinals in Rome and was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Madrid Masters.

The desired tournament results were not there. A clear improvement in performance is needed for the long-awaited first Grand Slam title. Today he starts against Learner Tien, who has already beaten Zverev in straight sets in Acapulco. However, he is not quite as strong on clay.

Nevertheless, Zverev has been warned after his defeat in his opening match, especially as Tien has already beaten Daniil Medvedev in three sets on the big stage at the Australian Open. The Zverev match is just one of many that I will be presenting to you today as part of my French Open tips.

French Open tips today – May 27, 2025

As the world number three, Zverev is among the extended circle of favorites. VBET and Co. rate Novak Djokovic as having better chances. The record Grand Slam winner won his first title of 2025 in Geneva on Saturday and will start against Mackenzie McDonald in Paris.

Like Zverev, the veteran will face a player who only plays the most necessary matches on clay and feels most comfortable on the world’s hard courts. We can’t say the same about Daniil Medvedev’s opponent Cameron Norrie.

The Brit has already won several titles on clay and will face the 2021 US Open champion, who has been waiting for a title since 2023 and has since slipped out of the top 10. It will definitely not be a walk in the park for the Russian!

From a German perspective, Maximilian Marterer is also in action alongside Zverev. He recovered in time for the second Masters of the year and came through qualifying without dropping a set on his comeback. He faces a perfectly manageable task in Adam Walton.

French Open broadcast today: Where are the matches being played on May 27?

The French Open matches for the women and men will be broadcast live on Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, with additional matches broadcast on Discovery+. My tip: Register with Winamax or Bet365. Not only will you get tax-free betting odds, but also free live streams of all Roland Garros matches!

French Open today, May 27: Zverev – Tien (12:30 p.m.)

Zverev lost 3-6, 4-6 in Acapulco three months ago. Will Tien trip him up again? I don’t think so. Zverev hasn’t been in the best form recently, but he is much more comfortable on clay than Tien, who has won three of nine matches on clay this season.

Last year, the 19-year-old only played one match on clay. With this lack of experience, he will have a tough time against Zverev on Court Philippe-Chatrier. He is likely to have much more trouble getting his service games through.

My expert tip: 3:0 Zverev & no tiebreak

French Open betting today 27.05.: Bellucci – Draper (4:00 p.m.)

With hardly any injuries to slow him down, Jack Draper is now among the world’s elite. The 23-year-old is currently ranked fifth, won the Indian Wells Masters in 2025 and reached the final in Madrid. The offensive-minded Brit is definitely not to be underestimated in Paris.

His opponent Mattia Bellucci, on the other hand, is going through a difficult phase and has not been able to make a big impression since reaching the semi-finals in Rotterdam in February, with the quarter-finals of the 250 tournament in Marrakesh being the highlight of his season so far. He arrives in Paris on the back of a dismal run of defeats!

My expert tip: Draper to win (-8.5 games HC)

Tennis betting today 27.05.: McDonald – Djokovic (3:00 p.m.)

Is Djokovic in good shape for the start of the French Open? After two early exits in Monte Carlo and Madrid, he recently showed himself to be in much better form by winning the title in Geneva. Nevertheless, he is well behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in terms of tournament victory odds.

He shouldn’t have any major problems against McDonald, who is ranked 98th in the world, has lost all ten of his clay court matches in 2023 and 2024, and has won only one of four matches in 2025, but he should still be happy with the draw. He has never played against the most successful player of all time. A big defeat should be avoided!

My expert tip: McDonald to win (+10.5 games HC)

Tennis betting today 27.05.: Marterer – Walton (2:30 p.m.)

Impressive comeback from Marterer, who breezed through the French Open qualifiers. The last time he played a match was at the end of January. I’m optimistic that he will continue his run after reaching the main draw.

Walton is not exactly known for his clay court tennis, having never played more than three matches on clay in his career. In 2025, he has only been on court in Houston so far, switching back to hard court for the French Open. He has picked up two wins on the surface so far this decade.

My expert tip: Set 1 & Match Marterer

French Open today, July 27: Medvedev – Norrie (11:00 a.m.)

This match could be the most exciting of our daily overview. I don’t expect such a clear 6-4, 6-2 as in Rome this time. Norrie played a good tournament in Geneva, only losing to Djokovic in the third set of the semi-finals.

In their head-to-head record, the Brit is still without a set win against Medvedev after four encounters, but the counter-punching Muscovite always struggles at the start of the big tournaments. Hardly anyone has to play as many marathon matches as the one-time Grand Slam champion.

My expert tip: Set win Norrie
