Roland Garros has opened its doors! The 2025 French Open in Paris has finally begun, and there is so much happening on the courts in the first round that we can’t keep track of every rally.

Reason enough to give you an overview in our French Open tips today. The French Open schedule on Monday has some highlights in store, with the big tournament favorites also getting in on the action.

For example, we have the first appearances of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who are sure to feature heavily on the betting slips. From a German perspective, this day of the tournament will also be more than interesting.

Jan-Lennard Struff and Daniel Altmaier are both in action, and they haven’t been given easy opponents in the draw. But in a Grand Slam, as tennis fans will know, nothing is impossible, even in the first round.

French Open tips today – May 26, 2025

For Carlos Alcaraz, only the title counts at this French Open. An early exit is not an option for the Spaniard, so Giulio Zeppieri should not be a stumbling block.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has not been really satisfied with his form for a long time. In Paris, the Greek is hoping for consistent performances at last – an early exit against Tomas Martin Etcheverry would be extremely unfortunate.

From a German perspective, I am of course keeping my fingers crossed for Daniel Altmaier to make a successful debut in this FO – if only his opponent weren’t such a tough nut to crack! Taylor Fritz is one of the big guns, so a win for Altmaier would be quite a surprise.

Holger Rune is one of the co-favorites in the French capital, but he is not immune to early wobbles. In that respect, he would do well not to underestimate Roberto Bautista-Agut.

Germany or Austria, who will triumph in the duel between Jan-Lennard Struff and Sebastian Ofner? Unfortunately, the German is not in the best form, but in this match anything from a straight-sets victory to a five-set thriller is possible.

Jannik Sinner has only one goal in Paris: the title. The world number one has come back strong after his doping ban, but the coming days will show how consistent he really is.

French Open broadcast today: Where are the matches being played on May 26?

Good news for all tennis fans: you don’t need a paid subscription to Sky or a live stream to follow the French Open. Eurosport will be broadcasting as usual, and you can watch various courts from the morning onwards.

French Open today, May 26: Giulio Zeppieri – Carlos Alcaraz (12:10 p.m.)

Carlos Alcaraz is defending his title at this French Open. In 2024, he won the final against Alexander Zverev. The 22-year-old has been in great form in recent weeks, winning the Rome Masters against Jannik Sinner. Jack Draper, Lorenzo Musetti, and Jannik Sinner – he didn’t drop a set against these three strong opponents.

He is, of course, the clear favorite in his first round against Giulio Zeppieri, with odds of 1.01 to 20.0. Zeppieri is a qualifier who won against Jan Choinski, Eliot Spizzirri, and Federico Agustin Gomez in Paris. Since the Challenger in Koblenz, which took place at the end of January, he has won a measly two matches in the main draw.

My expert tip: 3:0 Alcaraz

French Open betting today 26.05.: Tomas Martin Etcheverry – Stefanos Tsitsipas (12:40 p.m.)

Stefanos Tsitsipas would love to break back into the world’s top 10. Since winning the title in Dubai in early March, things just haven’t been going his way, with only two quarter-finals to his name. In Rome, the Greek was knocked out in the second round by Arthur Fils. The 2021 FO finalist has reached at least the round of 16 here in Paris for the past six years, and he intends to continue that streak in 2025.

He faces Tomas Martin Etcheverry for the second time, with the first duel ending in a clear 6-1, 6-0 victory. The Argentine put in a very strong performance in Hamburg, only losing in the semifinals in three sets to the eventual champion Flavio Cobolli.

My expert tip: Set win Etcheverry

Tennis betting today 26.05.: Daniel Altmaier – Taylor Fritz (12:40 p.m.)

What is Daniel Altmaier’s master plan to get through this first round? The 26-year-old faces Taylor Fritz straight away and is facing odds of 3.80 to 1.25. After his semi-final in Turin, his dress rehearsal in Hamburg came to an end in the first round, although his opponent Felix Auger-Aliassime was also very challenging.

Taylor Fritz has never made it past the round of 16 at the French Open, and three wins in his last three tournaments are not exactly what he would call a good run. Incidentally, the two have never met before; two years ago at the Paris Masters, the American had to withdraw due to injury.

My expert tip: Altmaier to win the set

Tennis betting today 26.05.: Roberto Bautista-Agut – Holger Rune (12:40 p.m.)

His triumph in Barcelona was the greatest success of his career – but unfortunately, things didn’t go so well after that. Holger Rune beat the entire world elite in Catalonia, including Carlos Alcaraz. In Rome, he narrowly defeated Denmark’s Francisco Comesana, but Corentin Moutet proved to be his nemesis.

On Monday, he will face a seasoned opponent in Roberto Bautista-Agut. The Spaniard had a surprise win against Frances Tiafoe in Hamburg and has only lost once in the first round since Miami. Nevertheless, Rune leads 2-0 in their head-to-head record.

My expert tip: 3:1 Rune

French Open today, May 26: Sebastian Ofner – Jan-Lennard Struff (1:20 p.m.)

He’s not in good shape. Jan-Lennard Struff is not traveling to the French Open with his chest puffed out, knowing that he has won only one match since the tournament in Marseille in mid-February – and that was only because Botic van de Zandschulp had to retire. In Hamburg, he was unlucky in his 6-7, 6-7 defeat to Justin Engel, with his opponent doing everything right.

Sebastian Ofner, on the other hand, can be very satisfied with his semi-final in Geneva. He knocked out Nuno Borges and Karen Khachanov, among others, before Hubert Hurkacz proved too strong. The Austrian last failed in the first round of Paris in 2022 – against a German rival (Alexander Zverev).

My expert tip: Over 3.5 sets

French Open today, May 26: Jannik Sinner – Arthur Rinderknech (8:15 p.m.)

The defeat against Carlos Alcaraz at the Masters in Rome was not easy for Jannik Sinner to swallow. And yet: his comeback after the doping ban has been a success. Tommy Paul, Casper Ruud, and Francisco Cerundolo have all been beaten. He has not faced his current opponent Arthur Rinderknech since 2022 and leads 2-1.

The odds for Monday are more than clear at 1.005 to 18.3. Rinderknech, who stands at 6’5” and is a specialist on serve, has mostly been knocked out very early in recent weeks. I don’t see any victories against big names. Still, he did make it through the first round in Paris in the last two years.

My expert tip: Sinner to win with HC -9
