French Open Tips today – Matches today from 28.05.
It’s the first Saturday in the main draw of the 2022 French Open, one top match is chasing the next! So far, the top favourites have held their own, although some of them have struggled quite a bit.
The schedule has come up with some very special pairings for this 28 May. The matches in which there are clear favourites and underdogs still exist, but they are slowly becoming fewer.
Most interesting will be the performances of Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who want to show that they are a force to be reckoned with. One of them in particular has already shown great difficulties in Paris.
One or two secret favourites, who were not even on the cards a few months ago, will also attack again on Saturday. The French Open 2022 will also be exciting from a non-German point of view on this day.
French Open tips today – 28.05.2022 Preview of Day 7
Daniil Medvedev hasn’t really found his way into 2022 yet, he doesn’t like the red clay much anyway. Will he ignite at the French Open of all things? After two convincing victories, he now has to fight off Miomir Kecmanovic.
Holger Rune could become THE sensation of the French Open 2022. The 19-year-old has only come into focus in the last few months, now he is swimming on a wave of success. Hugo Gaston should therefore not be a stumbling block in the 3rd round.
Casper Ruud was on many people’s minds when it came to the favourites in Paris. Once bumpy, once confident, after these two different performances he does not want to waste unnecessary energy against Lorenzo Sonego.
Although the world number 4 has not faced any particularly strong opponents so far, he has had big problems. Stefanos Tsitsipas must be happy that he has not been eliminated yet! Mikael Ymer, his next opponent, should therefore by no means be underestimated.
Andrey Rublev and Cristian Garin should meet on about the same level on Saturday. Both have already shown strengths and weaknesses in Paris, but the experts see more of an advantage for the Russian.
Tennis tips today broadcast: Where are the matches on 28.05.?

French Open tips today 28.05.: Miomir Kecmanovic – Daniil Medvedev (12:15 h)
Is he getting back into the swing of things on clay of all surfaces? Daniil Medvedev is notorious for not feeling comfortable on the slow surface. As a result, he has only made it past the 1st round at the French Open once, in 2021.
Retired and resting due to injury, the Russian is doing very well so far after these mixed months. He first won 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 against Facundo Bagnis, then 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 against Laslo Djere.
Between these two matches, he has improved considerably, especially in terms of his serve. Now he measures up against Miomir Kecmanovic for the first time in his career, the odds are relatively close at 1.60 to 2.30.
The Serb has beaten Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Alexander Bublik in Paris, is in the 3rd round for the first time in Paris. In the last tournaments, Kecmanovic played strongly and was usually only narrowly eliminated against real top stars.
Our Expert Tip: Win Medvedev
French Open tips today 28.05.: Holger Rune – Hugo Gaston (20:45)
Just a year ago Holger Rune was not even competing in the French Open, now he could become the shooting star of the tournament. Since his victory at the BMW Open in Munich at the latest, he has been the talk of the town.
In Paris, he has shown fantastic performances so far. That he won 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 against Henri Laaksonen is almost to be expected, but a 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 against Denis Shapovalov? Rune wants to go all the way in the French capital.
At 19, he now faces Hugo Gaston, the 1.73m-tall Frenchman, for the first time. Tennis fans know: Gaston reached the last 16 of the FO in 2020, losing in five sets to Dominic Thiem!
So when he wants to, he succeeds in everything. In the tournament so far, he surprised everyone in the 1st round with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. 0-6, 7-6 against Alex de Minaur with a real rollercoaster. Pedro Cachin was eventually beaten 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. The bookies have positioned themselves per Rune, recording a 1.30 to 3.60.
Our Expert Tip: 3:0 Rune
French Open tips today 28.05: Casper Ruud – Lorenzo Sonego (16:00)
A 6-7, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 loss to veteran Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was not what he had in mind. At least he didn’t let anything go in the subsequent 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 against Emil Ruusuvuori.
Already at the preparatory tournament in Geneva, Ruud had big problems despite winning the title, he could never save his strength. With Lorenzo Sonego, he now faces an opponent who should bring back only positive memories.
Ruud won all three games, but the latest 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 was very close. The Italian has yet to show any weakness in Paris. After his 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 against Peter Gojowczyk, he also disenchanted Joao Sousa.
The 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 was also commendable because Ruud got a much closer result against the Portuguese in the Geneva final a few days earlier. Nevertheless: With 5.40 to 1.15, Sonego is clearly behind.
Our Expert Tip: Set win Sonego
French Open tips today 28.05: Mikael Ymer – Stefanos Tsitsipas (15:30)
What is going on with Stefanos Tsitsipas? The Greek had to go to the limit already in the 1st round when he won 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. Whoever thought he would now turn up the heat in round 2 against Czech qualifier Zdenek Kolar was mistaken.
6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 – such a result against an absolute underdog does not suggest that Tsitsipas really has what it takes to collect his first Grand Slam title.
Defeats against underdogs don’t really happen to Tsitsipas in 2022. Mikael Ymer, his next opponent, barely made it into the top 100. It is clear that he is clearly outclassed with 12.00 to 1.05.
However, after beating James Duckworth 6-2, 6-4, 6-2, the Swede pulled off a big surprise. He defeated Daniel Evans 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2! Why shouldn’t there be a strong match against Stefanos Tsitsipas?
Our Expert Tip: Over 27.5 Games
French Open tips today 28.05: Andrey Rublev – Cristian Garin (11:00am)
Is Andrey Rublev slowly but surely finding his way into the tournament? He was still not at all satisfied with his performance in the 1st round when he lost 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to Soon-woo Kwon, and he also afforded himself a little rest in round 2.
He prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Federico Delbonis. Which is definitely strong: In both matches, Rublev only allowed a single break. He himself made use of just under half of his opportunities.
With odds of 1.30 to 3.90, Rublev is ahead in the duel with Cristian Garin. That suits the head-to-head, in 2019 both matches went to the Russian, albeit narrowly. Garin has twice prevailed in four sets in Paris.
First he won 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 against Tommy Paul, then 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 against Ilya Ivashka. He already had to say goodbye to the French Open in 2020 and 2021 against a Russian player, and that shouldn’t really happen to him a third time.
Our Expert Tip: Over 35.5 Games
