French Open, quarter-finals, Tuesday, 04.06.2024

He’s not infallible after all! Jannik Sinner actually lost a set at the French Open – if there’s nothing to criticize, you just pick out something like that.

The Italian will now play his quarter-final on Tuesday and his opponent is both very uncomfortable and very experienced. And yet: the bookmakers are once again unanimous as to who will leave the court as the winner.

Reason enough for me to take a closer look in my Dimitrov Sinner betting tip. The Bulgarian is in good form and that’s why I’ll tell you why I’m leaning towards over 3.5 sets here!

Was it even a small wobble or not worth mentioning? Jannik Sinner dropped his first set in the round of 16 at the French Open – something like that just happens to the South Tyrolean!

The year 2024 has been a triumphant one so far, and the 22-year-old has emerged as champion almost everywhere he has competed. Forgetting that he didn’t really know where he stood before the trip to Paris after hip problems.

Admittedly, in the first four rounds he didn’t face the really strong opponents, they are only now coming. He started the tournament well with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win against Christopher Eubanks.

This was followed by victories against Richard Gasquet (6-4, 6-2, 6-4) and Pavel Kotow (6-4, 6-4, 6-4), in which Sinner did not have to push himself to the limit. He then faced Corentin Moutet in the round of 16

The surprising 2-6 in the first set didn’t rattle Sinner, perhaps it even spurred him on. In contrast to the first three games, he was now determined to get it over the line even more clearly.

6-3, 6-2, 6-1, he got stronger with every rally and in the end he progressed to the next round without any problems. However, it was still noticeable that he conceded four out of six break chances and was less consistent here.

In the three matches before that, he had only conceded a total of two. Sinner seems to be managing his strength very well and knows exactly that he doesn’t have to go to his sporting limits yet.

Will it be any different against Grigor Dimitrov? The two have duelled four times so far, and since the younger player lost the premiere in 2020, he has followed this up with three victories, and they have also played each other this year

In the final in Miami, Sinner triumphed 6-3, 6-1, and it should be a similar story on Tuesday. According to our bookmakers, the world number 2 is clearly favored again with odds of 1.17 to 4.30.

Speaking of bookmakers, as the European Championship is about to start and Jannik Sinner will certainly be following his Italians, you can already take a look at the best European Championship free bets.

Bulgaria, Grigor Dimitrov’s home country, is not taking part in Germany. But perhaps the 33-year-old will manage to cause a sensation in Paris and delight the sports fans at home.

As a lover of the faster green grass, he is not necessarily at home on clay, but now he has actually made it to the quarter-finals of the French Open for the first time ever

First, he was successful against Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, followed by a 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 win over Fabian Marozsan. In round 3, Zizou Bergs was no problem despite a slight wobble, winning 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4.

In the round of 16 against Hubert Hurkacz, everyone was expecting a close, intense match. And what can I say: although only three sets were played, they were right thanks to Dimitrov’s 7-6, 6-4, 7-6!

There were only three breaks in the entire match, one of which Dimitrov conceded to himself. He averages a good 80% of points won on his first serve in Paris and his service has always been one of his strengths.

He has now had three tiebreaks in his last six sets, including four in Miami, where he faced Jannik Sinner in the final, on his way to the final

My Dimitrov Sinner tip

Normally, Jannik Sinner decides for himself how quickly or how high he wins against his opponents. Grigor Dimitrov, however, is a very experienced man who plays unusually well at Roland Garros on a rather unpopular surface.

The Bulgarian is capable of anything, it’s not for nothing that he recently beat Alexander Zverev

As Sinner dropped a set for the first time in the 4th round and strong competition could mean that his hip is still a little sore, my tip is:

Sinner and Dimitrov will go into at least four sets!
