Australian Open today – Matches today 25.01.

..and there were only eight left! The men’s and women’s quarter-finals are complete at the Australian Open 2022. From a German point of view, it’s a shame: you miss an Alexander Zverev or an Angelique Kerber on both sides.

Of course, the big quarter-finals will start in the night from Monday to Tuesday. In the men’s singles, it is also about the new number 1, because if Daniil Medvedev wins the tournament, he will displace the absent Novak Djokovic.

In the women’s singles Ashleigh Barty is and remains the big favourite for the title, of course she is still in the running. Of course, she is still in the running. The number of matches is now logically decreasing, we can currently look forward to exactly four per day.

At least we won’t miss anything that might take place on a parallel court. The Rod Laver Arena is now hosting all the duels and is looking forward to one old champion from Spain in particular on Tuesday.

Australian Open 2022 – 25.01. Preview of Day 9

Women, men, women, men – that’s the best way to describe the morning of tennis on 25 January. In the Australian Open schedule we start with the match between French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova and Madison Keys.

Afterwards, Rafael Nadal wants to show that he still has the best grip on his young opponents. He will play Denis Shapovalov and knows: “I could win a Grand Slam tournament for the 21st time in a few days!

When this match is over, Ashleigh Barty will attack. The top favourite has to show that she also has the edge against outsider Jessica Pegula. The bookmakers can’t think of any other title holder.

Fans can look forward to the match between Gael Monfils and Matteo Berrettini at the end of the day. As the Frenchman has not yet dropped a single set, it should not be easy for Berrettini.

Australian Open today broadcast: Where will the matches be played on 25.01.?

With only four matches, it will be easy for fans to follow every rally without interruption. This can of course be done again in the second week on Eurosport. Even if the German players are already sitting at home.

Australian Open today 25.01: Denis Shapovalov – Rafael Nadal (04:00 h)

Will Rafael Nadal make it to the Grand Slam winners’ list for the 21st time? He is putting in a fabulous performance in Melbourne so far. He gave up 16 games in his first two rounds against Marcos Giron and Yannick Hanfmann, there was no sign of his injury.

At one point he wobbled in a 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 loss to Karen Khachanov, but his victory was never in danger. Adrian Mannarino was clearly put in his place after a tough tiebreak with a 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 win.

With well over 80% of points won on first serve, he also wants to defeat Denis Shapovalov. With 3:1 he leads the direct duel against the Canadian, is now relatively clear in the odds with 1,40 to 3,30.

Shapovalov caused a stir with his smooth victory over Alexander Zverev. And that despite the fact that he committed eleven double faults! Before that he had bigger problems against Reilly Opelka, Laslo Djere and Kwon Soon-woo and needed a total of 13 sets.

Our Expert Tip: Over 34.5 Games

Australian Open today 25.01: Gael Monfils – Matteo Berrettini (10:15 a.m.)

At the tender age of 35, does Gael Monfils really have a chance to win the Australian Open? The French veteran is looking brilliant and hasn’t dropped a single set so far!

Federica Coria was beaten on the fly, Alexander Bublik also collected only five games. Against Cristian Garin, the fans saw a tiebreak at least once. Miomir Kecmanovic was at least the strongest opponent at 7-5, 7-6, 6-3, but again Monfils got stronger at the back.

A semi-final in Down Under would be a real first. The bookies obviously know that he has lost both previous duels against Matteo Berrettini at odds of 2.40 to 1.60, but the values show that an open match is expected.

Berrettini won smoothly (7-5, 7-6, 6-4) against Pablo Carreno Busta in the round of 16, it was his first win in three sets. As you know it from the Italian: He pulls off his service game and breaks at the decisive moment. Against Monfils too?

Our expert tip: Over 3.5 sets

Australian Open today 25.01: Ashleigh Barty – Jessica Pegula (09:00am)

Ashleigh Barty was considered the top favourite to win the title in Melbourne from the start, her results show: Rightly so. She played four matches and did not drop a set. Only 15 games went to her opponents! To be fair, no top player was among them.

Amanda Anisimova made it the hardest for her when she lost 6-4, 6-3 in the last 16. The Australian is aiming to reach the semi-finals of her home Grand Slam for the second time since 2020, but she has yet to win a title here

She met Jessica Pegula for the first time at the French Open three years ago and won 6-3, 6-3. The US American was already in the quarter-finals of the AO in 2021, now she has made it again. She lost her very first set against Anhelina Kalinina, but has not lost another since.

In the 2nd and 3rd rounds, she had relatively easy opponents in Bernarda Pera and Nuria Diaz, but at the latest when she beat Maria Sakkari 7-6, 6-3, people took notice. Still: At the bookies she is the clear outsider with a 5.50 to 1.15.

Our expert tip: 2:0 Barty

Australian Open today 25.01: Barbora Krejcikova – Madison Keys (02:30)

Can the French Open champion do it on hard court? Barbora Krejcikova is in an Australian Open quarter-final for the first time. She did it with a very confident performance and only dropped one set.

Andrea Petkovic and Xiyu Wang were no real competitors, only against Jelena Ostapenko she had to go into extra time in the 3rd round. She showed what she is really capable of in the round of 16 against Victoria Azarenka.

6-2, 6-2, the clear result underlined her good form. However, her opponent Madison Keys also came along with only one dropped set. The US-American has “crashed” to 51st place, now she is aiming for her second AO semi-final after 2015.

Whoever wins 6-3, 6-1 against Paula Badosa in the round of 16 and also knocks Sofia Kenin out of the tournament will not be without a chance against Barbora Krejcikova. When both ladies meet for the first time, the Czech is only marginally ahead in the odds.

Our Expert Tip: Win Krejcikova
