Gauff and Badosa will start on Tuesday morning German time. The 2023 US Open champion lost her first set to Belinda Bencic in the previous round, but then lit off a fireworks display. She has become much more stable in her rallies.
She has now won 11 matches in a row, with nine straight sets. Badosa had a strong hard court season and is playing a great tournament. Gauff won the last two matches, but only after going into a third set. Both players serve well.

2-0 for Paul, but that was three years ago. Since then, both players have developed, with Zverev in particular raising his game. In my opinion, he is currently playing his best tennis. He has overcome his weaknesses on the forehand and on volleys, and has significantly reduced his rate of double faults.
Thanks to his increased feel for the racket, Zverev is now also really dangerous on service returns. In the tournament so far, he has won almost every second point on his opponents’ serves – and Paul has already given up a lot of service points! He beat his last opponents comfortably, but now Zverev is a top server for the first time!

Sabalenka and the Australian Open, that’s a perfect match! And it has to be, if she wants to remain the world number one. So far, the Belarusian has not yet been able to win a set against any player. Against a recently very strong Mirra Andreeva, she did not even concede a break in the round of 16.
Pavlyuchenkova even went two rounds without breaking and also has the lead in their head-to-head, however, those matches were played four years ago. Nevertheless, after her last performances, I think she is capable of winning a few games.

Australian Open tips today 21.01.: Djokovic – Alcaraz (10:30 a.m.)
In the night session, Djokovic and Alcaraz take to the court at the Rod Laver Arena – and it promises to be a long night for the superstars of the sport. The matches so far have been so hard-fought that we can no longer get high odds for over 3.5 sets from the betting providers.
Djokovic defeated the young Czechs Tomas Machac and Jiri Lehecka in straight sets. Alcaraz made it through with similar ease. Both top 10 aces were hard to break, but the Serb had to go into the tiebreaks in two games. Between Alcaraz and Djokovic, we saw a close duel, which was 4-3 in favor of Djokovic, with eight tiebreaks in seven games.
