The duel between Alejandro Tabilo and Taylor Fritz at the ATP Tournament in Houston will determine who will secure one of the last tickets for the quarter-finals on Friday night.
In itself, the starting position for the Tabilo Fritz bet is clear: on the one side, the number 100 in the world rankings from Chile, on the other the US American, who in 13th place in the ATP rankings is scratching the top 10.
According to the betting odds, however, the bookmakers expect a relatively even affair. A win for Tabilo will bring odds well above 2.00, while a success for the US American will bring odds around 1.60.
Tabilo had no problems at all in his first round match. The Chilean dispatched US qualifier Christian Harrison in two sets 6:1, 6:4 and once again proved his good form.
The Chilean has already proved several times this year that he is in good form. Tabilo is one of the strongest clay court players in 2022.
The Chilean reached the final of the Challenger tournament in Cordoba without dropping a set and a few weeks later he made it to the quarter-finals in Santiago without dropping a set.
Before the comparison with Fritz, however, one has to put these achievements into perspective. On the one hand, Tabilo played at the Challenger level and on the other hand, it did not work out with a tournament win.
But one can say: When the Chilean prevails, he does so without losing a set. That was the case in 14 of his last 15 victories.
In defeats, the left-hander usually puts up a lot of resistance. Only in one of his last three defeats did Tabilo fail to win a set. A statistic you should keep in mind for your Tabilo Fritz tip.
His debut at the ATP tournament in Houston went very well for the number 100 in the tennis world rankings. Tabilo needed just 66 minutes to reach the round of 16.
However, the task was not too difficult with Harrison, who appears in the ATP ranking beyond 300.
Fritz is seeded number two and hopes for a better result than at the last 250 tournament in the USA. In Dallas, where he was even top seed, the US American disappointed with a defeat against compatriot Marco Giron.
The 24-year-old is currently playing stronger than ever. For the first time in the top 15 in the world, Fritz is also the number one in US tennis.
Fritz celebrated his greatest success about three weeks ago when he won the tournament in Indian Wells. He surprisingly defeated Rafael Nadal in the process.
My Tabilo – Fritz Tip
For my Tabilo Fritz tip I don’t have a direct comparison available as a betting aid, as tonight’s clash is the first between the two.
In my opinion, Fritz’s potential is much higher than that of his Chilean rival. A look at the world rankings shows that.
But the task against Tabilo will not be easy either. Even in defeat, the left-hander’s resistance is great. That’s why I don’t dare to bet on a win for the favourites without losing a set.
But that is not absolutely necessary, because a Tabilo Fritz bet on a victory of the US American brings odds of around 1.60.
