NBA Playoffs 2024/25, Round 2, Game 2, Friday, 09.05.2025, 02:30
A currywurst without the golden curry powder? That’s probably how a Golden State Warriors game without Stephen Curry feels right now.
And unfortunately, we’ll probably have to get used to it in the NBA playoffs, as the three-point wizard is also expected to miss Game 2.
My Timberwolves Warriors tip for the second game of this incredible series? It will once again be a match dominated by defense – and both teams may well fail again in their attempt to score in triple digits.
The NBA playoffs are entering the second round and the duel between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves promises plenty of excitement – even if Game 1 turned out to be more of a defensive classic.
The Warriors won 99-88 despite losing their superstar Stephen Curry after just 13 minutes due to a thigh injury.
Now Game 2 is coming up and the question is: Will it be another physical, offensively tough game, or can the Timberwolves follow up? The signs indicate that we can expect another low-scoring game.
First of all, one thing is certain: Curry will almost certainly miss Game 2 – a major blow to the Warriors’ offense. Without their magical three-point king, they will have to find another way to win.
However, they showed in Game 1 that they can win even without their star player – thanks mainly to a strong defense.
Draymond Green was a real pain in the neck for the Wolves, Buddy Hield hit important three-pointers, and the whole team played with a fighting spirit.
If Golden State continues to play this hard and Minnesota remains as cold as it was in Game 1 (only 5 out of 29 three-pointers!), then the score will remain low in the second game as well.
On top of that, Anthony Edwards, Minnesota’s biggest offensive weapon, was barely recognizable in Game 1. He took forever to get into the game, and even when he did make a few baskets, it was too late.
His coach Chris Finch publicly criticized his lack of energy – and if Edwards doesn’t get going in Game 2, it will be tough for the Wolves to play against the aggressive Warriors defense.
The Warriors completely threw Minnesota off their game in Game 1 with their zone and physical play.
Their haul? They forced 16 turnovers, dominated the rebounds and never let the Wolves get into a rhythm. If this continues, Game 2 won’t be a high-scoring spectacle either.
All in all, there are many indications that Game 2 will be similar to the first game: hard-fought, defense-oriented and with relatively few points.
The Warriors have shown that they can win without Curry, while the Timberwolves are still searching for the right answers.
If Edwards doesn’t explode and the Warriors continue to defend with such discipline, it will be more of a tough duel than an offensive fireworks display.
As far as possible Minnesota Timberwolves Golden State Warriors bets are concerned, it’s clear that my focus is on scenarios with a low number of baskets.
MIN under 102.5 points at odds of around 2.35 seems to me to be a first-class offer when you consider how difficult it was for the team to score consistently in Game 1.
By the way: With many of the verified betting providers that accept PayPal, you not only have the opportunity to take advantage of these excellent Timberwolves Warriors odds, but also to claim a first-class sports betting bonus.
Furthermore, I am speculating that Anthony Edwards will score under 27.5 points.
Yes, he was certainly one of the Timberwolves’ better players in the opening game with 23 points, but the GSW will now focus more intensively on tight man-to-man coverage of the number 5.
However, such a tactical maneuver will make it easier for his two teammates, Mike Conley and Donte DiVincenzo, to break the relatively low scoring mark of 6.5 and 10.5, respectively, for odds of around 1.90 each…
Conclusion: If you’re betting on a low score, the under 215.5 is probably the right choice! But team totals and individual performances, such as Edwards’ number of baskets, also offer good betting opportunities.
A low-scoring game is likely, so bets in this direction are worthwhile. I don’t think the Wolves are capable of putting up a three-digit number on the scoreboard.
My personal Timberwolves Warriors prediction is therefore deliberately a little more risky: Under 202 points.
