NBA 2021/22 on Wednesday, 19.01.2022
There are only two NBA games on Tuesday night: one of them is Golden State Warriors vs Detroit Pistons. Here, my analysis could turn out to be the key to success.
Because, especially in this Corona-dominated season, it’s always important to know who’s playing and who’s out. Regardless of Omikron, however, the Dubs will welcome a returnee who could easily lead them back to the fast lane…
The Warriors will soon resume their winning march through the NBA, so the three losses from the last four games shouldn’t upset fans of the Golden Blues too much – because there is a logical explanation for this.
The Dubs, after all, have three outstanding players. These are, of course, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the now-returned Klay Thompson. Of them, however, only Thompson was on the floor in the recent defeat against the Wolves.
Consequently, the 99-119 defeat against Minnesota should come as no surprise, even if five Californians did score in double figures. But what they lacked to make the difference is their superstar Stephen Curry – and it is he who now returns against the Pistons!
Stephen Curry had to sit out the game against the Timberwolves as a precaution. The reason for this was a fall on his right hand, which was only recently operated on. In order not to take any risks, Head Coach Steve Kerr gave him a little time out.
The Californians will feel much more comfortable with their three-point specialist, after all, the Yellow and Blue have lost 75% of their season games when Curry was not on the floor. By the way, tonight’s opponent is “only” Detroit.
The Pistons are suffering from the absence of their absolute superstar Jerami Grant, who has been unable to play for weeks due to a thumb injury. Meanwhile, the Pistons frigate continues to bob along with a broken centre mast.
The “Bad Boys” from the state of Michigan have the worst record of all NBA teams after the Orlando Magic (10-32). Especially against teams of the calibre of the Warriors, they went down with all their might.
In the last week, the Pistons lost to both the Bulls (87-133) and the Suns (108-135) in a very clear manner. The Californians, however, are to be expected to play at exactly this level as soon as Curry returns.
However, basketball fans who diligently read our NBA tips might object that there has already been a season game between the two opponents, which the Dubs narrowly won 105-102.
It’s true that the Pistons were just one three-pointer away from overtime in their last home appearance against the Warriors. However, that was the quintessential “best-case scenario”.
For one thing, a healthy Jerami Grant was still playing for Detroit, while the Californians were without their entire Big Three, i.e. Curry, Green and Thompson. However, two of them will be back in the mix!
Furthermore, the home advantage should not be underestimated. The rematch will take place at the Chase Center, where the Warriors are significantly stronger. After all, they are the NBA team with the best home record (18:3).
According to all bookmakers, the Dubs are the team with the best chance of winning, with odds of 1.09. The Pistons, on the other hand, are the team with the best chance of winning. The Pistons, on the other hand, come in at win odds averaging 9.50.
Conclusion: Granted, the last time the Warriors went head-to-head in November, they won by just a three-point difference against Detroit. However, the circumstances this time are much more promising than then.
For one thing, the rematch will take place at the Chase Center, where the Dubs have won 18 of their 21 NBA home games, and for another, Curry and Thompson will be on the floor together.
For the Pistons, on the other hand, Grant will be absent compared to the last meeting. Apart from that, the Bad Boys don’t seem to have much going for them at the moment, after being massacred by the Bulls and Suns just a few days ago!
So my Warriors Pistons tip is: Handicap win of -15 for the Californians!
