Basketball World Cup 2023, quarterfinals on Wednesday, 06.09.2023
“Final oh oh, final, oh oh ohh”, we’re not there yet at the FIBA Basketball World Cup, but the DBB Express is heading straight for the final. Can the Baltic States stand up to Germany on Wednesday?
According to my just published Germany Latvia tip, one must always consider the odds when making a “betting tip”. In fact, this move prompts me to rely on an alternative betting option in this quarterfinal.
“5 friends you must be?” Not necessarily in basketball! There it can go to the point also within the team quite sometimes, so that the desired operating temperature can be reached.
The best proof for this thesis was certainly provided by the last group game of the Germans against Slovenia, when it was even 25 to 11 for Doncic and Co. until the end of the 1st game period.
Out of necessity, DBB head coach Gordon Herbert called a timeout, during which there was a lot of bickering – first between Daniel Theis and Dennis Schröder, then even between the latter and the coach himself.
But that created the necessary friction for the comeback that followed. Because both players then played a great game and led all of basketball Germany into the quarterfinals in a 100:71 victory.
Gratiswetten and sports betting bonuses are handed out especially these days on the markets briskly – because the rush in the betting shops and the interest around the German team is huge.
Will the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2022 be followed by the next coup for the men around head coach Gordon Herbert?
One thing you have to give Germany credit for: They won all five World Cup games, and especially the last three of them.
Finland (101:75), Georgia (100:73) and the aforementioned Slovenians were all sent home with a point difference of more than 25 points each.
By the way: In the case of the Eastern Europeans this is not quite true, because Slovenia is also in the quarterfinals, where they will now have to deal with the strong Canadians on Wednesday.
Franz Wagner has been missing from his team for a few games now, but should return against Latvia. But honestly, I would trust the DBB selection to win again even in the current constellation.
The team play is great, the work on the board and also that in the defense anyway. In any case, there are only two nations that I would classify as even a tad stronger at this World Cup: Canada and Spain.
The Latvians, on the other hand, do not belong to this select circle. And even though the Latvians just won 74-69 against Spain, I have more reasons to give them the role of a slight underdog on Wednesday.
Germany, by the way, has already won all of the three international matches against the Baltics that have been played since 2011 – 1 time, however, by five points and 2 times even by just one point.
However, this does not mean that a tip on the DBB five would also automatically represent a good betting decision.
This is because the Germany Latvia odds of the betting providers must always be taken into account – and these honestly disappoint me a little.
I would have been able to leave a win rate of 1.55 for the eagles, but not one around the currently traded value of about 1.30. The Latvians will not be so eager to win.
The Baltic States will not let themselves be outplayed so easily, even if they should only just lose out in the end.
Already against France (88:86), Spain (74:69) and Brazil (104:84), they went into the race as underdogs, but were able to prove the German bettors wrong again and again.
Only against Canada (75:101) there was nothing to get for them. But the North Americans are also currently the best team in the tournament.
Conclusion: On balance, I expect a narrow to razor-thin victory for the Germans, which is why this automatically causes me to give precedence to a so-called handicap bet.
I’m giving the Baltics a generous 11.5-point lead on my betting slip, in the hope that they’ll successfully save this over the finish line – regardless of whether they’ll end up in the semifinals.
My Germany Latvia tip is therefore: Victory Latvia with handicap +11.5.
