Who will be English champions in 2025? Odds comparison for the Premier League favorites
Manchester City – Fifth title in a row?
Manchester City are the now-plus-ultra of recent years in the Premier League. The Cityzens have won the league for the last four years and naturally want to bag their fifth title in a row. However, they have not made many preparations for this. Pep Guradiola’s team have hardly been active on the transfer market. They sold central defender Tyalor Harwood-Bellis to Southampton for 23 million euros, but signed right-back Savinho from Troyes for 25 million euros. João Cancelo also returned after his loan to Barcelona, as did Kalvin Phillips, who had been on loan to West Ham. However, one of the biggest sales in recent years has taken place in attack. Atlético Madrid signed talented striker Julián Alvarez in a package worth around 95 million euros. Otherwise, nothing has changed in the structure of the team.
But the Skyblues hardly need to. With a value of €1.41 billion, the squad is one of the most valuable in the world and this money is naturally reflected on the pitch. In the last three years, they have been the only team to score more than 90 goals in the league, while at the same time never conceding more than 34 goals. Players like Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are just a few of the players who play at an absolute world-class level and ensure that Manchester City are among the favorites in every competition.
Conclusion: Apart from the sale of Julián Alvarez, City have hardly had any painful departures to lament. Phillips and Cancelo also return to the team. This year’s squad is at least as strong as last season’s and what has always made this team so special in recent seasons is its continuity. They manage to put in an incredible performance all season long, despite playing three or more games. This ability has set them apart from Liverpool and Arsenal in the past. They are the main favorites for the title again this year
FC Arsenal – Will it work at the third attempt?
The Gunners have had to settle for runners-up in the last two years. Of course, Mikel Arteta and his team don’t want to leave it at that. But the capital city team have also been rather cautious on the transfer market so far. However, they can announce two top additions. Firstly, goalkeeper Raya is coming for 31.90 million euros. He was only loaned out to Arsenal last season, but quickly established himself and played his way up to number one. They have also snapped up central defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian came from FC Bologna for 45.00 million euros. He played his way into the limelight last season and also impressed at the European Championships. This is another reason why the Gunners sold Emile Smith Rowe, another central defender, to Fulham FC for €31.80m.
Can they spring a surprise?
During the summer break, Arsenal naturally also made sure they were still in action and played three test matches. And against three well-known opponents. They won all of them against league rivals Manchester United (2:1), AFC Bournemouth (5:4 n.E.) and the unbeatable Leverkusen (4:1), while their only defeat came against championship rivals Liverpool (1:2). Once again, the forward play was particularly convincing, with the offense operating light-footedly and dynamically, posing enormous problems for the opposing defense. The young team was only two points away from winning the league title last year and will go into this new season with even more mentality and confidence.
Conclusion: The Gunners’ squad is definitely good enough to keep up with the fight for the championship. The only thing they need, of course, is the regularity of good results. That didn’t work well enough in the middle of last season and ultimately cost them the title. But the team is more experienced and now knows each other a year longer. They could definitely challenge the Cityzens.
The Premier League winners of the last 10 years
FC Liverpool – Will it work without Klopp?
Next year will be very interesting for Liverpool. For one thing, virtually nothing has changed in their squad. Apart from a few additions from the youth teams and the departure of Thiago, who surprisingly announced the end of his career, the team has not changed. All in all, it has been an unusually quiet summer of transfers for the Premier League.
Whether it is an advantage or disadvantage for the Reds that they have hardly added any reinforcements can only be said after the first few games. The fact is that they were certainly capable of holding a candle to Arsenal and Man City last season. At the end of this long year, however, their results were too weak and they fell out of the championship battle
What can Arne Slot do?
The biggest challenge, or rather the biggest question mark, is in the coaching position. Jürgen Klopp has been coach at Liverpool FC since 2015, but this era came to an end in the summer. The new head coach will be Arne Slot, who was previously employed by Feyenoord. Such a change of coach always involves a certain amount of risk, of course, but it is also important to face the hard truth. Under Jürgen Klopp, the Reds won just one league title, reached the final of the Champions League three times and only won once. The really big success did not materialize. This new impetus in the form of a new coach could breathe new life into the team.
Conclusion: The last few years have been very exhausting for the Reds. Last season they seemed to be very close, but in the end they lost their mental and physical strength and had to settle for third place. With Arne Slot as the new coach, Liverpool are a real grab bag, as the system and line-up are still completely unclear. Liverpool have the chance to play a part in the championship fight, but as things stand they are only third fiddle
Premier League champions betting tip: Who will be English champions in 2024/25?
This season, we can once again expect passion, struggle and, above all, exciting games. There are several teams that play soccer at a very good level, but when it comes to the championship, the only way to decide this year is between Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
We assume that Liverpool as a team will first have to adapt to the new playing system of their new coach and that there will therefore be some problems, which are completely normal. That’s why it probably won’t be enough this year. Our tip for Arsenal and Man City is for the Sky Blues to be crowned champions again, as they have been the team that has performed most consistently in recent years. They were just as focused on the last matchday as they were on the first, and this will probably also be Pep’s last season as City coach, so his team should give it their all once again
