Milan played an outstanding season in the league. The Champions League finalists from the previous year had a record of 29 wins and only two defeats throughout the season and clinched the championship with five match days to go. After the recent win, there is little reason for Verona coach Baroni to rotate. In the 4-2-3-1 system, only defender Giangiacomo Magnani could return to the starting eleven.
