Union Berlin – Eintracht Frankfurt

The Bundesliga enters the penultimate matchday this weekend before another international break. And Saturday this week will be dominated by the top match between the Black & Yellows and the record champions from Munich. However, five games in the conference will kick things off at 3:30 pm. Among others, Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt will face each other at the Alte Försterei in Köpenick. You can find out which team is most likely to get the three-pointer in our Union – Frankfurt betting tip.

However, the form of the two teams could not be more different. Eintracht Frankfurt are getting better and better and have not been beaten in three Bundesliga games. This was also the case last weekend, when the Adler held BVB to a 3-3 draw. Die Eisernen, on the other hand, have lost their last eleven competitive matches in a row.

During the week, there was no improvement in sight for the Köpenickers in the DFB Cup either. There, FCU lost 1:0 against VfB Stuttgart, while Eintracht advanced to the round of 16. The Hessians won 2:0 against Viktoria Köln from the 3rd division on Wednesday.

Union – Frankfurt Info:

  • Playing venue: Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Berlin
  • Competition: Bundesliga, matchday 10
  • TV broadcast: Sky

Union Form & Balance Check

Union’s misery seems absolutely unstoppable at the moment. After experiencing an almost unprecedented rise in recent seasons, the East Berliners are falling further and further this season. The Köpenickers also failed to spring a surprise in the DFB Cup. FCU lost 1:0 in the away game in Stuttgart.

In addition to the almost certain elimination from the Champions League, this was the second competition from which the Ironmen bowed out early. And in the league, too, Union is not fighting for a place in the European competition, but against relegation. With six points from new games, FCU are in 15th place

Alte Försterei no longer a fortress

The Union players were looking forward to playing on home turf last year. The Alte Försterei in Köpenick is a special venue. With just 22,012 spectators, the stadium offers a close and rousing atmosphere, which gave the Irons a remarkable home advantage. Last season, Union suffered just one defeat at their home stadium.

In fact, the Köpenickers never lost a single Bundesliga match. This season, however, that advantage is gone. Die Eisernen have lost their last three home games at the Alte Försterei in a row. And at the Olympiastadion, where FCU play in the top flight, they have yet to pick up a point either

Union facts & analysis
  • In 15th place in the Bundesliga table
  • Lost eleven competitive matches in a row
  • Lost 0:2 against Bremen in the previous week

Frankfurt Form & Balance Check

At the start of the season, SGE struggled in front of goal and focused on maintaining a solid defense. After six games, Eintracht had only won one match and scored four goals. In the last three Bundesliga games, however, Frankfurt showed a much improved performance.

Following victories against Heidenheim and Hoffenheim, the Hessians delivered a spectacular duel against BVB on Sunday, which ultimately ended 3-3. SGE are now back in 7th place in the table. Frankfurt also recently returned to top form in the Conference League and demonstrated this impressively with a 6:0 win against Helsinki. Eintracht also showed no weakness in the cup against Viktoria Köln

Chaïbi has arrived

Dane Jesper Lindstrøm was a real asset in the Hesse attack for a number of years. Shortly before the end of the transfer window, however, the 23-year-old moved to Serie A side Napoli. In return, SGE then brought in Farès Chaïbi from FC Toulouse in Ligue 1.

However, it took the young Algerian a few games to get used to the Bundesliga. However, the 20-year-old has really got going since the international break. The attacker set up his first two goals against TSG Hoffenheim and Chaïbi finally scored his first goal in the German top flight against BVB

Frankfurt facts & analysis
  • Fourth-best defense in the league
  • In 7th place in the Bundesliga
  • Without defeat in five competitive matches

Predicted line-up – last update on November 4, 2023

Coach Urs Fischer tried out a back four against VfB Stuttgart for the first time in several years. However, the success was limited. We therefore expect a 3-5-2 formation again on Saturday, although Rani Khedira will be missing after his sending off in Bremen.

Eintracht are now well-rehearsed and will once again line up in a 3-4-2-1 in Köpenick. We don’t expect any changes to the starting eleven compared to the 3-3 draw against BVB. Omar Marmoush will be looking to build on his two goals against Dortmund

Union – Frankfurt head-to-head & stats

In the 16 meetings between Frankfurt and Union so far, the Hessians are clearly superior. SGE have secured an impressive nine wins against the Iron, while Union have only emerged victorious three times. Interestingly, the last four competitive matches between these two teams have ended in a 2-0 win for the home side

  • Eight points separate the two teams in the league
  • Frankfurt’s last win in Köpenick was on 27/09/2019
  • Union Berlin wins only 25% of halves
