Union Berlin vs. Bayern Munich
After the top game is before the top game! At least in the Bundesliga, where it’s all happening one after the other at the moment. After top-ranked Bayern Munich already had second place in the table in front of them on the last matchday against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the new closest rival now awaits with Union Berlin. This top match will take place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. as part of the conference, and will be played at the Alte Försterei in Berlin. Our prediction for the match can be found in the following Union vs Bayern tip.
Both teams have started strongly and are not at the top of the table for nothing. Union and Bayern have each collected ten points, more than any other team, and now it’s a direct duel for the top spot in the table. Both are among the four teams that are still unbeaten and have the best offensive and defensive teams of the young season. Everything points to an exciting top match on Saturday.

Union Form & Balance Check
The Unioners continue to surprise year after year. Since their promotion to the Bundesliga three years ago, the Eisernen have steadily improved in every season. After finishing eleventh in their debut season, they then went on to finish seventh and, most recently, fifth in the last two seasons, which means that Union is now playing internationally for the second time in a row. But that doesn’t seem to be the end of the story. The Berliners just keep going undeterred and continue their fairytale upswing, which means they have more than earned the genuine top match against Bayern.
Strong start to season crowned against Schalke
The Capitals continue to be the usual unpleasant opponent, who have always been difficult to beat in previous years. As a result, Union have not lost a single match this season. The season began with two wins against Chemnitz in the DFB Cup and Hertha in the league, followed by the 0-0 draw in Mainz, the only loss of points this season. But the Eisernen were undeterred and won the next two games against Leipzig (2:1) and Schalke (6:1). At the very latest after the landslide victory against the Königsblauen, it should have become clear that Union are still not to be trifled with.
Union Facts & Analysis
– 2nd place in the Bundesliga, 10 points from 4 games.
– Last win 6:1 at Schalke
– Still unbeaten in the new season
Bayern Form & Balance Check
Bayern have set their sights high for the new season. After a disappointing debut season under Julian Nagelsmann, the team wanted to improve in all areas, which has absolutely succeeded so far. The defence is much better despite the fact that most of the regulars have remained unchanged, and both of the league goals so far have been the result of individual mistakes (Neuer & Upamecano). The FCB has also stepped up a gear offensively and set off several fireworks in the first few games.
Furious Munich side suffer first setback
The Bavarians have scored a whopping 26 goals in six competitive matches so far, four times scoring at least five times in one game. Nevertheless, the record champions have not started without flaws. The four wins from the first four matches were followed by the first small setback last weekend. Against their fearsome opponents from Mönchengladbach, the Bavarians once again had to fight against the outstanding Yann Sommer and in the end did not manage more than a 1-1 draw. In the cup, however, the FCB bounced back during the week with a commanding 5-0 victory over third-division Viktoria Köln.
Bayern facts & analysis
– Top of the Bundesliga, 10 points from 4 games.
– Last played 1:1 against Gladbach
– 26 goals from first 6 games
Predicted line-up – last update on 1 September 2022
Urs Fischer actually has little reason to change his starting eleven from the strong Schalke game. However, we believe in a new one, because captain Trimmel should be on the pitch from the start in such an important game. Instead, Gießelmann is out and Ryerson moves to the left. Jaeckel, Schäfer and Haraguchi are other alternatives.
On the other side, Julian Nagelsmann is once again spoilt for choice. In central defence, Matthijs de Ligt is pushing into the starting eleven, although the previously strong duo of Upamecano and Hernandez is likely to operate here again. In the attack, only Müller and Mané are set, Gnabry and Musiala are further candidates for a starting place. The recovered Goretzka, on the other hand, is not yet a candidate for the first eleven, but is likely to displace Sabitzer in the near future.
