Tottenham Hotspur vs.Brentford FC
The Premier League is taking advantage of the break in international competitions to implement its tight fixture schedule. Matchday 14 will be completed this week, with Tottenham facing Brentford at 8:30pm on Thursday. While many eyes are likely to be on the match between Manchester United and Arsenal (go here for Man United – Arsenal betting tips), there is also a new coach to prove himself on the Tottenham bench in Antonio Conte. Our prediction for this match can be found in the following Tottenham vs Brentford tip.
The Spurs head coach has made a good start with his team, but Tottenham are currently only in seventh place in the table. 19 points from 12 games mean a four-point gap to fifth-placed rivals Arsenal, but Tottenham still have a catch-up game up their sleeve. Brentford are doing well as a promoted team and are in twelfth place. The Bees are on 16 points and have a comfortable lead over the relegation zone.

Tottenham Form & Balance Check
Spurs have been stuck in a bit of a negative spiral for some time now. Last year, a lack of results led to Jose Mourinho’s sacking, with fellow Portuguese Nuno Espirito Santo taking over in the summer. Previously very successful with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Spurs still seemed too big a team. Those responsible pulled the ripcord once again, and with Antonio Conte, an experienced and enormously successful coach was brought in to lead Tottenham back into higher realms.
First defeat under Conte
Conte has now been on the Spurs sidelines for four games. His record: two wins, one draw and one defeat. In the first game Tottenham won 3-2 against Arnhem in the Conference League, followed by a 0-0 draw against Everton and a 2-1 win over Leeds. In the last game, however, Spurs suffered their first defeat under Conte. In the Conference League duel with the Slovenian representatives NS Mura, Tottenham conceded a surprising 2-1 defeat when they were shorthanded, so Conte obviously still has a lot of work to do.
Tottenham facts & analysis
– 7th place
– Last win 2:1 against Leeds
– Won both home games under Conte
Brentford form & balance check
Brentford FC continue the English tradition of strong promoted teams. After Leeds last year, it is now the Bees who have made a strong start and managed to upset several favourites. Brentford won directly against Arsenal on the first matchday, which was the start of an excellent phase with only one defeat from the first seven league games. Later, the Bees also picked up a point against Liverpool and shortly afterwards a treble against West Ham. Even in their 1-0 defeat to CL winners Chelsea, the West London side were not far off a point.
Weak period over?
However, the strong game against Chelsea, in which Brentford despaired mainly of Blues keeper Mendy, gave the starting signal for a minor performance slump. Including this game, the Bees then lost four league games in a row and only drew against relegation candidates Newcastle. It was only on the last matchday against Everton that Brentford were able to celebrate a win after five matches without a win. Ivan Toney scored the goal of the day from the penalty spot in a 1-0 win over the Toffees.
Brentford facts & analysis
– 12th place
– Most recent 1-0 win over Everton.
– Previously 5 games winless (4 defeats)
Predicted line-up – last update on 30 November 2021
Tottenham practice the coach’s beloved three-man backline under Conte. In a 3-4-3, the attacking trio of Kane, Son and Lucas Moura swirl around, followed by a playmaking midfield. In defence, Sanchez and Romero are the alternatives to Tanganga. Brentford coach Thomas Frank also relies on a three-man backline, but rather in a 3-5-2. In the centre, former Bochum player Vitaly Janelt operates, and the dangerous duo of Toney and Mbeumo also start up front. Ghoddos and Rasmussen are other alternatives for the starting eleven.
