VfB Stuttgart – Borussia Mönchengladbach
Our Stuttgart – Gladbach betting tip is: Stuttgart win – 4.80 odds
- This bet would have worked out in the last two meetings between the two
- Stuttgart have only lost twice at home in the league this season
- Bochum has lost three of its last four league games
The English week is over and next weekend we spectators can look forward to the next exciting games. On Saturday afternoon, VfB Stuttgart will face Borussia Mönchengladbach, which promises to be a very exciting game.
Stuttgart are currently in a bit of a slump and were soundly beaten 4-1 at home by PSG in the Champions League during the week, which means they have been eliminated from the premier league. They will be hoping to end their poor run of form with this game and continue their good run in the Bundesliga.
Gladbach had the week off and will therefore be significantly fitter going into the clash. They also come into the matchday with a dominant 3-0 win over Bochum, which will have given them a further boost in confidence. You can find out which team will come out on top in this close game in our Stuttgart v Gladbach betting tip.

Stuttgart Form & record check
The Stuttgart team has been playing a very solid season so far, but has had to accept two major setbacks this week. Last weekend, they didn’t really manage to pose a threat against Mainz and lost 0-2 away to their direct rivals. Things didn’t go better in the Champions League either. On Wednesday evening, they had to play at home against PSG, where a draw would have been enough for them to advance. After 90 minutes, the Swabians were 1-4 down, which sealed their elimination.
In the Bundesliga, they have now won three and lost two of their last five games and are still in a good position in the table. They are currently in fourth place, although they are only four points away from seventh place.
Strong at home
As in the last season, VfB’s home strength seems to be confirmed again this year. In their ten home Bundesliga games, they have so far recorded six wins, two draws and only suffered defeats against St. Pauli (0-1) and Frankfurt (2-3).
They also have an impressive goal difference of 24 goals scored and only 13 conceded. With this record and the resulting 20 points, they are in fifth place in the home table, one point behind BVB.
Stuttgart facts & analysis
- Fourth place in the table
- Three wins from the last five games
- Last game lost 0:2 against Mainz
Form & record of Gladbach
The Gladbach season is hard to assess so far and is marked by very inconsistent and patchy performances. In their last five league games, they picked up a win against Hoffenheim and Bochum, but in between, they were beaten three times in a row by Munich, Wolfsburg and Leverkusen.
In the table, their progress resembles an elevator ride, as they are unable to establish themselves at the top. They are currently in eighth place and four points behind the European places. With a win, they could send a message to the competition.
Defensively strong
The foals seem to have taken a step forward in defense this season. The change of goalkeepers has also paid off, with Borussia having kept five clean sheets in the current season.
In their 19 games, they have conceded just 29 goals, making them the seventh-best defense in the league. However, there is a fly in the ointment, as they have conceded 17 of these goals in away games, three of them against Stuttgart.
Gladbach facts & analysis
- Eight place in the table
- Three defeats in the last five games
- Last game won 3:0 against Bochum
Stuttgart will probably rotate a lot in the next game. Sebastian Hoeneß will do without captain Karazor and central defender Chabot (both serving a suspension) in his 4-4-2 formation, with Keitel in the center and Chase moving up into defense for them. On the outer wings, Stergiou can start at right back and Bruun Larsen at the front; the forward line will probably be formed by Woltemade and Demirovic, who had a little break during the week.
There won’t be too many changes in the foals’ 4-2-3-1. Gerardo Seoane could go back to the net in defense on the left in the next game, but otherwise it will be the same starting lineup that performed so well against Bochum.
