VfB Stuttgart vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

On Saturday afternoon, the crisis duel of the second half of the Bundesliga will take place as the relegation-threatened Swabians welcome Eintracht from Frankfurt to the Mercedes-Benz Arena at 15:30. In the second half of the season, things are not going well at all for both teams and in 3 games they have only managed to pick up one point each. Stuttgart have not even been able to score a goal and continue to stagger towards the 2nd Bundesliga. They are now in second last place and after a good season last year, it seems to be getting really tight this year.

For Frankfurt, too, things are not going as well as hoped this year and after a good final spurt at the end of the first half of the season, they have fallen out of the European ranks again. All in all, however, things still look alright for the SGE and even the Champions League places are still within reach. Find out who we think will get the first win of the second half of the season in this Stuttgart – Frankfurt betting tip.

Stuttgart – Frankfurt Info:

 – Venue: Mercedes-Benz Arena (Stuttgart)
 – Competition: Bundesliga, Matchday 21

Stuttgart Form & Balance Check

The Swabians are currently one of the most in-form teams in the whole of Germany and even last season’s returnees and key performers like Kalajdzic and Silas are nowhere near where they once were. VfB’s play seems sluggish and unsettled, and on top of that, the offensive has been incredibly weak in recent weeks. They haven’t scored a goal in their first 3 second-round games and only picked up a point in a 0-0 draw against last-place Fürth. As a result, they have slipped to 17th place and are in acute danger of relegation.

Is VfB experiencing déjà vu?

Without wanting to spread panic, Stuttgart’s current season is very reminiscent of the season 3 years ago, when after a good season and narrowly missing out on the Europa Cup, they had to go down to the 2nd Bundesliga again. Last year, Stuttgart also made a very good and stable impression after promotion, but there is hardly anything of that in the current season. After a promising start, the form curve showed more and more clearly downwards and meanwhile they are almost at the bottom of the table.

Stuttgart facts & analysis
 – Lost 2 games in a row
 – Rank 16 in the second round table
 – Only 22 goals after 20 matchdays
 – Only one point from last 5 games

Frankfurt form & balance check

Thanks to a strong final spurt towards the end of the year, Frankfurt are back in business for the European places. But just like almost all other teams, except for Bayern, they simply lack consistency. The start of the second half of the season was so badly fouled up and after 3 games they have only picked up one point and had an extremely disappointing performance against Bielefeld last Friday (0:2). Against a relegation candidate – with all due respect – more must come out of it if they want to underline their ambitions further.

André Silva’s goals are missing

The Portuguese striker’s departure is still hurting and it shows in games like the one against Bielefeld. We simply lack a player who, even in games where things are not going well, simply scores a goal and carries the team along. The replacement, Rafael Borré, is always committed and gives everything when he is on the pitch, but the Colombian still lacks a real scoring threat. The beginnings are absolutely there, but it is quite possible that the newcomer simply needs some more time to get properly accustomed to the Bundesliga.

Frankfurt facts & analysis
 – Borré is the top scorer with 6 goals.
 – They have only picked up one point from their last 3 games
 – They currently occupy 9th place in the table with 28 points

Predicted line-up – last update on 3 February 2022

The Stuttgart squad is slowly thinning out and several regulars are returning to the starting eleven. The new signing from Sporting Lisbon could also make his debut and start at ten. Also likely to return are Sosa and Endo at the full-back positions. Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner will have to replace one of his best players, Kamada, as the Japanese player is out with a torn muscle fibre. It is quite possible that he will go for a one-two with Paciencia and Borré. Alternatively, Hauge could start.

Stuttgart – Frankfurt direct comparison & Statistics
