FC St. Pauli – RB Leipzig
Our St. Pauli – Leipzig prediction is: RB Leipzig to win – 1.65 odds
- Leipzig is still unbeaten in the current Bundesliga season
- St. Pauli started with three defeats from three games
- The hosts have lost the last six Bundesliga home games across all seasons
The Bundesliga starts this weekend in its fourth matchday and so slowly but surely the first groupings can be seen in the table. Of course, everything is still very close in this young season, but this matchday could also be very important for some teams. It is particularly close at the bottom of the table. Currently, there are three teams that have not yet won a single game: Bochum, Kiel and St. Pauli. The first two of these will play against each other this weekend, so at least one team will collect points.
A very difficult game awaits Hamburg on Sunday evening against Leipzig. After losing the Champions League game during the week, the guests will be out for redemption. You can find out who has the better cards in this game in our St. Pauli – Leipzig betting tip.

St. Pauli form & record Check
St. Pauli were promoted after an outstanding last season. But after they had to let go of their coach Fabian Hürzeler, it was clear that the season would be extremely difficult. And this problem is also reflected in the results so far. In the cup, the Kiezkicker only just managed to save themselves in extra time against Hallescher FC to reach the second round, but in the league they are currently fighting for survival. They were beaten by Heidenheim, Union Berlin and Augsburg, three opponents that are not necessarily among the top teams in the Bundesliga, and are in 17th place with the resulting zero points. Only fellow promoted team Kiel are further down due to a worse goal difference.
Home weakness
In the Bundesliga, things don’t seem to be going well for the Hamburgers at home. In their own stadium, FC. St. Pauli lost their last six Bundesliga home games in a row, a value that also means the current club negative record. Since Tasmania Berlin in 1965/66 (8), only Darmstadt (7, 2023/24), Werder Bremen (7, 2019/20), Hannover (7, 2015/16) and Hansa Rostock (8, 2004/05) have suffered seven or more home defeats in a row in the top flight. Of course, Leipzig is a very difficult task to break this streak. However, it is not impossible!
Pauli facts & analysis
- 17th place in the table
- Three games, three defeats
- goal difference 1:6
Leipzig Form & Balance Check
For Leipzig, the start of the season could hardly have gone better. In the cup, they dominated RW Essen and advanced confidently into the second round with a 4-1 victory. They also feel very comfortable in the league so far. They won their last two games against Bochum and Leverkusen, and last weekend they drew a goalless draw against Union. During the week, Marco Rose’s team then suffered their first setback when they lost 1-2 away to Atlético Madrid despite taking the lead. They are currently third in the Bundesliga and are therefore close to the top of the table.
Historic start
With seven points from these first three games, RB Leipzig had the best start to a Bundesliga season in four years (2020721 also 7). The only other time they managed to win all three games in a row was in the 2019/20 season. 2019/20 was also the only season in which Leipzig started with two away wins, which could now be repeated. The Red Bulls are undefeated in their last 14 Bundesliga games and thus have the longest current unbeaten streak in the top flight (nine wins, five draws).
Leipzig Facts & Analysis
- Third place in the table
- Lost 1:2 to Atlético Madrid during the week
- Still unbeaten in the Bundesliga
St. Pauli will probably start in a 3-5-2 again under Alexander Blessin. This system works well in a back five when defending, but also ensures that the transition to attack works with the necessary speed. In terms of personnel, it would be time for St. Pauli to make a few changes. Saad and Afolayan have had a significant impact in recent weeks as substitutes on the flanks and would have earned a starting place. Metcalfe will also be back in the squad.
There could be some changes at RB Leipzig due to their English week. In a 4-4-2, Marco Rose may give Xavi and Vermeeren a rest, with Kampl and Seiwald moving into the starting XI. In defense and attack, the personnel will probably remain the same for the time being, even though Poulsen and Geertruida are of course options.
St. Pauli – Leipzig direct comparison & statistics
The two teams have only played each other four times so far, with all four games taking place in the 2nd division. The numbers from these past duels still clearly favor Hamburg. St. Pauli was able to emerge victorious from three of these encounters. Leipzig managed this feat only once. So far, there have been no draws between the two. The last encounter also took place at the Millerntor, where the Kiezkicker managed to take advantage of their home field and won by a narrow margin of 1-0.
