Sevilla FC vs. FC Barcelona

With big steps we are approaching another weekend in football Europe and the best leagues of the continent are once again going into another matchday. This is also the case in the Spanish La Liga, where the 20 teams are waiting for the fourth matchday. This coming Saturday, we can look forward to the clash between Sevilla FC and Barcelona FC, among others. Both teams have started the new season in completely different ways and for this reason, too, we can expect a very interesting pairing. What we think about it in detail, you can read in our Sevilla – Barcelona tip.

If we take a closer look at the table in the Spanish La Liga, we see that the Andalusians of Sevilla FC did not get off to a particularly good start. Sevilla have suffered two defeats and one draw so far. Coach Julen Lopetegui’s team is only in 15th place, while the upcoming opponents from Barcelona are in third place with seven points. The Catalans are looking for a third win in a row against Sevilla.

Sevilla Form & Balance Check

The first three games of the new season have been played and Sevilla FC fans will be looking ahead with some worry lines. With only one point from three games, the great FC Barcelona awaits on Saturday. The Andalusians were beaten 1:2 by promoted Almeria last weekend. All in all, it looks as if Sevilla are still in the summer break. We can therefore be very curious to see if the Andalusians show a different attitude against Barcelona.

Sold all the silverware

Sevilla FC did not have a very successful transfer summer, to say the least. For example, top performer Diego Carlos was sold to Aston Villa and Jules Kounde also packed his bags for the upcoming opponents. Sevilla FC thus had to replace virtually their entire central defence. The Andalusians looked anything but well organised in the first three games and the best defence of the last season already conceded five goals. From Sevilla FC’s point of view, we can only hope that Robert Lewandowski is not in a goal-scoring mood.

Sevilla facts & analysis

 – Still without a win
 – Last lost 1:2 against Almeria
 – Are only in 15th place

Barcelona form & balance check

FC Barcelona has flexed its muscles in the current transfer summer. President Laporta has landed several top stars and the whole world is asking how can FC Barcelona afford it all? But that is another matter, fortunately for all fans of the Catalans, all players have been registered in time. Last weekend there was a commanding 4-0 victory against Real Valladolid. Robert Lewandowski in particular was once again on fire. The Pole scored his second brace of the young season.

Can the run continue?

Nothing less than the La Liga title is expected of coach Xavi and his team. If we take a closer look at the last two games, Barca just seem to start a little run. After the 4:1 against Real Sociedad, Valladolid also had to be beaten. Above all, the Catalans’ offensive is one of the best in the league. So far, Raphinha and Dembélé have been very fast players on the flanks. With their well-aimed crosses, RL9 have already been able to set the scene very well.

Barcelona facts & analysis

 – Won last two games
 – In 3rd place
 – RL9 is already at 4 goals

Predicted line-up – last update on 1 September 2022

The Andalusians from Sevilla will again want to field a 4-2-2-2 in the upcoming match. Especially the midfield will have to exert much more pressing against the playful Barcelona. Lamela and Mir are expected to do the job up front. The upcoming opponents from Catalonia will rely on the usual 4-3-3. RL9 will again play up front as the only top player, flanked by Raphinha and Dembélé.
