Manchester United vs. Liverpool FC
This Sunday we can look forward to numerous top matches in Europe’s top leagues. In addition to the Barcelona vs. Real Madrid classico, there will also be a clash between two giants in the Premier League, namely between Manchester United and Liverpool FC. Kick-off is at Old Trafford at 17:30.
After the 4-2 away win at Manchester United in May this year, Liverpool are now looking for two Premier League wins in a row at Old Trafford for the first time since 2002. Given the form curves of both teams, this does not seem at all unlikely. In our Man United vs Liverpool betting tips, we tell you whether we think the visitors will actually come out on top and what other predictions we would make for this match.

Man United -Liverpool Tip
Liverpool FC are currently ahead in the table. After eight games, the Reds are still unbeaten, while United have only gone the first five games without defeat. Since matchday 6, however, the Red Devils have been in a slump of form. If Liverpool win Sunday’s clash, they could finally send their arch-rivals into crisis. Perhaps the Reds would even give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wobbly coach’s chair the decisive final push.
Man United Form & Balance Check
After an excellent start to the season and four wins from their opening five games, Manchester United have just hit their first bad patch of the 21/22 season. A surprise 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Matchday 7 was followed by a 1-1 draw with Everton FC before the Red Devils lost 4-2 at Leicester City last weekend. In the Champions League, CR7 & Co. have picked up six points out of a possible nine, but a look at the exact course of those games shows that the performances there have also been anything but commanding.
United with many late wins
United’s opening match in the top flight was a surprise 2-1 loss at Young Boys Bern in Switzerland, and on matchday 2 against Villarreal it looked for a long time as if the first three points would be a long time coming. In the 95th minute, however, it was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo who saved the victory with his goal to make it 2-1.
Last Wednesday against Atalanta Bergamo, the Red Devils were already 2-0 down after 28 minutes. The two goals by Rashford (53rd) and Maguire (75th) and, last but not least, CR7 (81st) actually turned the game around in favour of the hosts. Manchester United don’t really have much going for them at the moment, but with a difference-maker like Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s usually enough to come away with the win. Against Liverpool, Solskjaer’s team needs another Ronaldo in top form, otherwise it will be more than just difficult.
Man United facts & analysis
– 8 points from 14 games
– Last lost 4:2 at Leicester
– Winless in 3 league games
– Always conceded a goal in last 9 league home games
Liverpool form & balance check
Liverpool FC are back! After a rather mediocre last season, the Reds want to go all out again this year and compete for the title in all competitions for as long as possible. So far, they are on a very good path in this respect. Among other things, because with Virgil van Dijk, the head of defence is finally back. His return to the team has made an immediate impact. In all of Liverpool’s five Premier League victories so far, keeper Alisson has kept a clean sheet. Only in the draws against Chelsea (1-1), Brentford (3-3) and Manchester City (2-2) did he have to make a couple of saves.
Salah in absolutely captivating form
No one has been able to beat Liverpool this season. Neither in the Premier League (5S, 3U) nor in the Champions League (3S). In the top flight, however, it has not yet worked out with the white waistcoat. Jürgen Klopp’s team won 3:2 against AC Milan, while the away games at Porto (1:5) and Atletico Madrid (2:3) were also won with goals conceded.
Besides Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah is one of the main reasons for the sporting success. Apart from the 2-0 win against Burnely, he has scored once in every league game so far, plus four assists. In the Champions League, he has even managed five goals in three games. Jürgen Klopp recently even went so far as to call him the best player in the world at the moment. Accordingly, it is not only the duel between Manchester United and Liverpool FC on Sunday, but also the duel between the top goal scorers Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool Facts & Analysis
– 18 points from 8 games
– Last win 0:5 at Watford
– Lost only 1 of last 7 duels with United
– Salah scored in every league/CL game except one
Predicted line-up – last update on 23 October 2021
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could put Paul Pogba in the starting eleven for Fred McTominay. Otherwise, the eleven will once again line up on its own. Once again, there will be no place for Jadon Sancho.
For the Reds, Fabinho could return to the starting eleven. Only Thiago and Harvey Elliott are currently injured. Curtis Jones is also likely to miss out. Otherwise, Jürgen Klopp is likely to have confidence in his well-rehearsed squad.
