RB Leipzig – Bayern Munich
A single home win for Leipzig could spoil Bayern’s championship party – there could hardly be more drama on matchday 32. Fifth-placed RB Leipzig face leaders Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena: Munich need three points to secure their 34th title, while Leipzig need every point in the race for the Champions League, with only two points separating them from the top.
The Saxons are still reeling from their 1-5 debacle in December, while their recent away games – Bitshiabu’s red card and a 0-4 defeat in Frankfurt – have revealed a shaky defense. Henrichs is still out for the long term, and further absences are making life difficult for coach Löw.
Bayern looked confident in their 3-0 win over Mainz, but will now have to do without the suspended Harry Kane. Müller, Sané, and Olise are expected to fill the gap; for Müller, it will also be his last home game as captain. Historically, this duel has almost always produced plenty of goals, with at least three goals in each of the last five games – Leipzig always scored, but almost always conceded two or more.
In short: Bayern are traveling in a strong position, while Leipzig are fighting for survival in the top flight – the emotional turmoil promises a tense top-of-the-table clash.

Leipzig form & record check
Leipzig’s final sprint has been mixed: two wins, two defeats and a draw from their last five competitive games, including a strong 3-1 win against Hoffenheim and a 4-0 defeat in Frankfurt.
The pattern behind this is clear: dangerous up front, vulnerable at the back. Leipzig scored in all five games, but also conceded at least one goal in each; four games saw them concede three or more goals.
Injuries to Gulácsi, Henrichs and Orbán are further undermining the team’s stability. With 49 points, the team is in 5th place in the table, just one point ahead of Dortmund and two behind Freiburg – any slip-up would be fatal.
Coach Löw is likely to stick with a 3-5-1-1 formation. Vandevoordt will replace Gulácsi in goal, with S. Simakan, Lukeba, and Bitshiabu probably defending in front of him.
Baku and Bitshiabu/Baumgartner will occupy the wings, with Seiwald and Nedeljković in the center. Simons will play the free ten behind Šeško. More flexibility is hardly possible in terms of personnel – the infirmary with Orbán, Schlager, and Henrichs forces improvisation.
Bayern Form & Record Check
Bayern are marching on: they have taken 13 out of a possible 15 points from their last five league games (3-0 against Mainz, 4-0 in Heidenheim) and have always scored at least twice. Added to that are two high-scoring Champions League draws against Inter.
The team remains highly efficient in attack, while defensively they have conceded goals in three games but never looked seriously threatened. Munich have not lost in the second half of any game this season, which is a testament to their fitness and control.
Kane is suspended, Musiala and Upamecano are doubtful. Nevertheless, there is plenty of quality available in Sané, Müller and Olise, while Dier leads the back four. Eight points ahead means that a win in Leipzig would be synonymous with the championship.
Bayern are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Without Kane, Müller will move up front, with Olise, Sané, and Gnabry behind him.
Kimmich and Pavlović will form the double six. The back four of Laimer, Dier, Stanišić, and Guerreiro is a makeshift solution, but should take pressure off the shaky center with high possession. Final confirmations are still pending.
H2H Leipzig – Bayern Head-to-head & statistics
None of the last five head-to-head matches ended goalless – there were always at least three goals scored, most recently in December 2024 when Leipzig lost 5-1.
Leipzig scored in all five games, Bayern in four of them; the record since May 2023: two wins each, one draw.
Noteworthy: There has never been a tie after the break, with one of the teams always pulling ahead – an indication of both teams’ offensive, risk-taking style of play.
