RB Leipzig vs Borussia Mönchengladbach
The Bundesliga enters its 22nd matchday this weekend. This week, the top match takes us to the largest city in Saxony. Both teams will be looking to counteract their stumbling form with a win. Find out who will secure a three-pointer in our Leipzig – Gladbach betting tip.
The Saxons will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday. Leipzig have won just one of their last six games and were held to a 2-2 draw in Augsburg the previous week. This leaves RB in fifth place in the table.
Gladbach’s form is even more worrying at the moment. The Foals have won just one of their last eight games and didn’t have much to offer in the 0-0 draw against SV Darmstadt the previous week

Leipzig Form & Balance Check
RB Leipzig are once again in contention to qualify for the Champions League this season. However, RasenBallsport suffered a major setback in the round of 16 of this very same premier class during the week when they lost 1-0 to La Liga leaders Real Madrid. The Saxons have also won just one of their last six games in the Bundesliga.
Coach Marco Rose’s team were also held to a 2-2 draw when they visited Augsburg the previous week. This was another setback for Leipzig in the battle for a Champions League place. The Saxons currently occupy 5th place in the table and are already three points behind fourth-placed Dortmund
Rose knows the foals
Marco Rose will be reunited with old friends this weekend. Rose was coach of upcoming rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach from 2019 to 2021. The Leipzig-born strategist led the Foals to the Olympics of the Champions League. However, his departure from Borussia-Park was not entirely smooth at the time, accompanied by a number of unwelcome hiccups.
The 47-year-old finally ended up at RB Leipzig via Borussia Dortmund in 2022. As the man on the touchline in the trade fair city, he has scored an impressive 98 points in the Bundesliga so far and now has the ambition to break the coveted 100 mark against his former club
Leipzig facts & analysis
- In fifth place in the Bundesliga
- Only won one of the last seven competitive matches
- Fourth-best offense in the league
Gladbach Form & Balance Check
Gladbach underwent a striking transformation in the summer and faced a challenging season. The first half of the season was similar for the foals. Borussia got off to an underwhelming start to the season and found themselves in a disappointing 15th place in the table after the opening duels. This was followed by a noticeable upward trend under the management of coach Gerardo Seoane.
VfL were particularly impressive between the end of October and the beginning of December and made their way into the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup during this period, where the catch-up match against Saarbrücken from the 3rd division awaits at the beginning of March. In the league, however, the Foals have only managed one win in their first five games in the new year and currently occupy 13th place.
Constancy is a foreign word
The pre-season under the leadership of coach Daniel Farke was undoubtedly characterized by a lack of consistency and was the Foals’ main shortcoming. Until the end of the season, Gladbach were unable to win two consecutive games in the Bundesliga. This was to change after the change of coach to Gerardo Seoane, who put in a particularly strong performance on his debut in Leverkusen.
However, even the Swiss was unable to coach his team to stable performances. For example, the home win against Hoffenheim, who were in sixth place at the time, was followed by a disappointing defeat at relegation candidates Union Berlin. The win against Stuttgart to start the year was followed by a draw against Augsburg the following week. Accordingly, it is not surprising that VfL have not yet bagged two wins in a row this season either
Gladbach facts & analysis
- In 13th place in the Bundesliga
- Not won two Bundesliga games in a row since March 2022
- Second-worst defense in the league
Despite the defeat against Real Madrid, we expect only a few changes to the starting eleven for the hosts from the trade fair city. Benjamin Henrichs, who played in central midfield there, will probably move back to the right flank.
Gladbach will return to the 3-5-2 formation. Jordan and Hack, who had to be substituted against Darmstadt, will probably be available again
