RB Leipzig – FC Augsburg

Our Leipzig – Augsburg prediction: Leipzig to score in both halves? No – 1.82 odds

  • The last two games of RB ended in a 0-0
  • Bet would have worked in every single Leipzig game of the season
  • The Saxons have only scored four goals in four games so far

On Friday evening, the Bundesliga will start its fifth matchday and slowly the differences between the individual teams are becoming more and more apparent and it is becoming clear in which direction the teams will go this season.

In the Saturday conference, we can look forward to a game in which two teams will participate that have so far both clearly underperformed. RB Leipzig will host FC Augsburg at home. Last week, the Red Bulls had to settle for a draw against promoted St. Pauli, and the guests lost 2-3 to Mainz 05 in a furious match. Both will try to use the upcoming duel to earn important points and live up to their own expectations. Our Leipzig – Augsburg betting tip will tell you which team will do a better job of it.

The upcoming game promises to be very exciting. Who do you think will win? Feel free to write it down in the comments below.

Leipzig Form & balance Check

The Leipzig team started the season very strongly, but in recent weeks, for whatever reason, there has been a certain sense of malaise. They were able to win the first two games against Bochum and Leverkusen, then they drew 0-0 at home against Union Berlin, after which they lost 2-1 to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League and last weekend they had to accept another 0-0 draw when they failed to create any real danger against promoted St. Pauli. In the table, this means that the still unbeaten Saxons are in fifth place, four points behind the leaders.

Offensive fatigue

So far, Leipzig’s play has lacked the dynamism and harmony in offense that distinguished them last season. The Red Bulls have scored only four goals in four league games, making them the second-worst offense in the league. Only FC St. Pauli, with only one goal scored, is even less dangerous.

The reason for this lack of offense is also the current form of the double top. While Loïs Openda has already scored twice, his strike partner Benjamin Sesko has not scored a single goal so far.

Leipzig facts & analysis
  • Unbeaten in the league
  • Only four goals in four games
  • Last two games 0:0

Augsburg Form & Record Check

The Fuggerstadt team is currently desperately seeking its form. After they had even been in a European place last season, they lost the last five season games and this negative trend seems to continue this year.

They only managed one win and one draw from their first four matches, and lost to Mainz and Heidenheim. With the four points they earned from these matches, they are currently in 12th place, but only three points separate them from the relegation zone.

Fearless

The anticipation for the upcoming game will certainly be limited for the Augsburg officials. Since RB Leipzig was promoted to the Bundesliga, there has been little for the upcoming guests to celebrate. Of the 16 meetings in the German top flight, Augsburg won only a single duel, otherwise there were six draws and nine defeats.

Their last victory against Leipzig dates back to 2017, a good eight years ago. FC Augsburg have yet to win a single game away from home.

Augsburg facts & analysis
  • 12th place in the table
  • One win from the first four games
  • 7:10 goal difference

Marco Rose will make a few personnel changes in the 4-4-2 after little worked in the last game. Openda will surely start again for Poulsen and left winger Nusa could also replace Baumgartner in the squad. With Baumgartner, Rose has a very good option at the wing-back position, meaning that Raum could start on the bench for now. Even before the game, it is clear that Rose will make some changes to bring new ideas into the game.

Jess Thorup will send his team out in the usual 3-4-2-1 formation, but he will have to do without his top scorer Essende (suspended for collecting red cards). Either Tietz or Mounié will likely take his place in the starting lineup.

Leipzig – Augsburg head-to-head comparison & statistics

RB Leipzig and FC Augsburg have met a total of 20 times. Of these, 16 games were in the Bundesliga and the two played each other four times in the DFB Cup. The numbers from past duels are more than clear. While Augsburg has only won three times, RB has already left the pitch as the winner 11 times. There were six draws between the two. In the last game, the Saxons failed to bring their qualities onto the pitch and could only manage a 2-2 draw in Augsburg.
