Leicester City vs. Chelsea FC
After the international break, the English Premier League once again has some exciting matches on the agenda. To kick off Matchday 12, we can look forward to the clash between reigning FA Cup winners Leicester City and reigning Champions League winners Chelsea FC on Saturday afternoon at 13:30.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs this calendar year. Surprisingly, the record so far is in favour of the Foxes, who won the FA Cup final as well as the home game in the Premier League. Most recently, however, Chelsea prevailed 2-1. Whether we expect the Blues to get another win on Saturday and what else we think about this game is now revealed in our Leicester vs Chelsea betting tips.

Leicester -Chelsea Tip
The teams are currently far apart in the table. While Chelsea have so far been able to seamlessly build on last season’s strong second half, the Foxes are struggling big time this season. Quality is still there, but consistency leaves a lot to be desired. So far, the sensational 2016 champions have only recorded four wins. Chelsea have dropped two points recently after four straight wins and could now go winless for two games in a row for the first time this season.
Leicester form & balance check
The hosts will not be entirely happy with the way the season has gone so far. After a very decent fifth place finish last season, Brendan Rodgers’ eleven currently only find themselves in twelfth place. However, as the midfield of the table is extremely tight, the coveted international places are still within immediate reach. The gap to record champions Manchester United, six places away, is just two points and a look at the results so far combined with the upcoming opponents shows that Leicester could soon be back in this region.
Foxes with feasible opponents ahead
So far, the Foxes have only lost to teams that are currently in the top 7 of the table. Three of the five defeats so far have come within the first five matchdays. In the last six games, Leicester only lost against Arsenal FC with 0:2. Most recently, the 4-2 win over Manchester United and the 2-1 away win at Brentford were followed by the aforementioned defeat to the Gunners, before Jamie Vardy & Co. were unable to go beyond a 1-1 draw at Leeds United on the last matchday before the international break. After the tough away game at Chelsea FC, four absolutely doable opponents await, Watford, Southampton, Aston Villa and Newcastle, all of whom are currently in the bottom half of the table. In these games, the Foxes will be looking to work their way back up.
Leicester Facts & Analysis
– 15 points after 11 games
– Last played 1:1 against Leeds United
– Won 2 of last 3 duels with Chelsea
– Only lost to top 7 teams so far
Chelsea form & balance check
Chelsea FC were dealt a rather unnecessary blow last matchday before the international break. Despite 25:5 shots and 70% possession, the Blues could not get beyond a 1-1 draw at home against Burnley FC. Matej Vidra (79th) equalised the opening goal by Kai Havertz (33rd) just ten minutes before the end. After four Premier League victories in a row, Thomas Tuchel’s team dropped points for the first time since the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on 25 September.
Blues with a monster defence
Immpressive again this season has been the Blues’ defensive work. With only four goals conceded in eleven games, Antonio Rüdiger & Co. have by far the best defence in the league. Only Manchester City (6 goals conceded) can come close. Third place in this ranking goes to Liverpool FC with eleven goals conceded, almost three times as many as Chelsea. This statistic is made even more impressive by the fact that two of the four goals conceded were from the penalty spot. In the Champions League, exactly one goal was conceded in four games. Anyone who scores from the spot against Chelsea this season can be extremely proud and mark the day in red on their calendar.
Chelsea facts & analysis
– 26 points from 11 games
– Last played 1:1 against Burnley
– Only 4 goals conceded in 11 games
– Won only 1 of last 6 league away games at Leicester
Predicted line-up – last update on 18 November 2021
The hosts will have to do without Nampalys Mendy (groin injury), Wesley Fofana (fractured fibula) and James Justin (cruciate ligament injury). The starting eleven could nevertheless remain unchanged compared to the last Premier League match against Leeds United.
Chelsea FC have been without their two strikers Romelu Lukaku (sprain) and Timo Werner (strain) for around a month. Against Leicester, therefore, Kai Havertz could once again start in the forward line. Lukaku’s comeback, however, is imminent. Compared to the last league game, we expect Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount to come in for Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi. But there is still a question mark behind Mount.
