Lecce – AS Roma
Lecce is fighting for survival, while AS Roma, under coach Claudio Ranieri, is in great form and eyeing the Champions League places. Two completely different worlds meet at the Stadio Via del Mare on Saturday: on the one hand, the 16th-placed team in Serie A, who only have a minimal lead over the relegation places; on the other hand, the Giallorossi, who are on a five-game winning streak. However, Ranieri will have to do without Paulo Dybala and the injured Zeki Çelik – a possible glimmer of hope for Lecce.

Lecce Form & Balance Check
Lecce continues to head for a crisis, because the last few weeks have brought little cause for hope: in the recent 1-2 defeat to Genoa, Lecce’s defensive vulnerability was once again avenged, with former Lecce player Fabio Miretti scoring twice for the opposition. The narrow 2-3 home defeat to AC Milan and the goalless performances in the 1-0 loss to Fiorentina and 1-0 defeat to Udinese also highlight the offensive problem. Even the 0-0 draw against Monza did little to inspire confidence – the team lacks creativity and consistency. Interestingly, Lecce usually only start playing better after the break, which should give coach Marco Giampaolo food for thought about possible tactical adjustments.
Coach Giampaolo is likely to field the familiar 4-2-3-1 formation at Lecce. Falcone is expected to be between the posts, while Guilbert, Baschirotto, Jean and Gallo will form the back four. Berisha and Coulibaly could provide stability in the defensive midfield, while Pierotti, Helgason and Morente will fire the offense. Krstović is the only striker. Injured players still missing include Filip Marchwinski (cruciate ligament rupture), Marco Sala and Balthazar Pierret (flu) and Joan González (heart problems).
AS Roma Form & Record Check
AS Roma are in excellent form at the moment. Under Claudio Ranieri, the team have won five games in a row, which has catapulted them up to seventh place in the table. They have been particularly efficient after the break – Dovbyk’s 62nd-minute goal was the decisive one in the 1-0 win against Cagliari. Although there was an unpleasant setback in the Europa League against Athletic Bilbao (1-3), Roma has scored at least once in each of its most recent league games. Ranieri’s handwriting is evident in a solid defense coupled with sufficient offensive drive.
Ranieri is also expected to field a 3-4-2-1 system: Rensch, Mancini and Ndicka form the back three, with Svilar in goal behind them. In midfield, Paredes and Koné could form the center, flanked by Angeliño and Saelemaekers. Offensively, Dovbyk is likely to be the striker, supported by Soulé and Shomurodov. In addition to the long-term injured Paulo Dybala, Zeki Çelik and Anass Salah-Eddine are missing. Alternatives such as Pellegrini and El Shaarawy are ready on the bench.
Lecce – AS Roma head to head & statistics
In their last five meetings with AS Roma, Lecce have not managed a single victory and have only managed two draws. Interestingly, all the games were still level at half-time and both teams scored four times. In the last meeting in December 2024, the Romans celebrated a clear 4-1 victory. In four of those encounters, the number of goals remained under 3.5, which, in the midst of Roma’s clear dominance, points to quite close matches.
