Lazio Roma vs. Juventus Turin
In addition to the Bundesliga, things are also heating up again in Serie A this coming weekend. Lazio Rome welcomes the Italian record champions Juventus Turin at the Stadio Olimpico. The Laziali currently occupy fifth place in the table and will do everything they can to play in the Champions League again next year. With a win against the Old Lady, the capitals could move past the fourth-placed Bergamaschi.
The Old Lady currently have to settle for eighth place in the table and have managed to earn just 18 points this Serie A season. Therefore, we believe they will travel to the Italian capital highly motivated to turn things around. However, it will be anything but easy as Lazio are very strong at home this season. Lazio Form & Balance Check
The Laziali are playing a solid season so far and still have a great chance of playing in the top flight next year. The team of coach Maurizio Sarri fluffed a few times away from home this season, but always showed a strong performance against the big teams in front of their home crowd. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Laziali occupy first place in the home table. The capitals have, for example, defeated Inter Milan and city rivals AS Roma in their own stadium.
Immobile back in top form
As in previous seasons, Immobile is in top form again this season. The Laziali central striker has scored ten goals in his first 12 games and also scored in the recent 3-0 home win over Salernitana. With Lazio having not lost in four competitive games, we believe they will come out strong against Juventus.
Lazio facts & analysis
– Lazio are unbeaten in four inter-competitive games now
– They currently occupy fifth place in the table
– Immobile is their top scorer with ten goals scored
Juventus form & balance check
Juventus Turin have been anything but commanding this season. Even against supposedly weaker teams, the Old Lady has too often failed to come out on top. For example, the Old Lady coached by Max Allegri lost at Hellas Verona and against Sassuolo Calcio. This was followed by a motivating 4-2 win against Zenit in the Champions League, before Juventus celebrated a flattering victory over traditional club AC Florence. Nevertheless, Juventus Turin’s form curve is pointing upwards again after the win over the Tuscans.
Great defensive problems
Although Juventus Turin have three world-class centre-backs in de Ligt, Chiellini and Bonucci, they are simply conceding too many goals this season. The Juventini have the worst backline after Lazio Roma, along with AS Roma of the top eight in Serie A. Juventus conceded on average at least one goal in every game and most recently conceded two goals each against Hellas Verona and Sassuolo Calcio.
Juventus facts & analysis
– They are currently in eighth place in the table.
– Juventus Turin have only won one of their last four league games
– The Old Lady is still searching for consistency
Predicted line-up – last update on 18 November 2021
Maurizio Sarri has always operated in his usual 4-3-3 formation, which is why we assume he will also start with this alignment against Juventus Turin. Since Lazio won 3-0 against Salernitana in their last match, all fit players from the last game will most likely start this time as well.
We suspect that Max Allegri will also start with his usual 4-4-2 formation. In place of Perin, however, Szczesny could move back into the Old Lady’s goal. Otherwise, we believe Allegri will keep everything the same. Ex-Schalker McKennie has only recently established himself in central midfield and is currently an absolute regular.
Lazio vs Juventus direct comparison & stats
Juventus Turin have almost always had the edge in the direct duels so far. The Old Lady has won 15 of the past 20 duels, only once did the match end in a draw and four times the capital city side has come out on top. However, Lazio certainly have more chances this year, as Juventus have played extremely consistently in recent years and they have fluffed several times this season.
