The Hoffenheim team have had a very difficult season so far. With Coach Matarazzo, there was little positive development to be seen in the first few days of the season, but things are now expected to go better with Christian Ilzer. They are currently in sixth place in the table and are therefore still in the running for a place in Europe. However, Freiburg suffered a major disappointment during the week when they were knocked out of the DFB Cup by third-division Bielefeld in the round of 16.
