Hoffenheim form & balance check
Pellegrino Matarazzo will play his 100th game as a Bundesliga coach this weekend. His early days at Hoffenheim were marked by five consecutive defeats and after 24 matchdays of the previous season, the team was in last place in the table. Since then, however, he has racked up an impressive ten wins in 17 Bundesliga games with TSG.
Five of those ten wins came in the new season. With 15 points, Hoffenheim is in a strong fifth place. Before the international break, TSG won a spectacular clash with SV Werder Bremen 3-2 in stoppage time with a beautiful long-range shot from Marius Bülter.
Beier flourishes
In previous seasons, Andrej Kramaric was mostly at the top of Hoffenheim’s scoring list. This season, too, the Croatian has four goals to his name. Nevertheless, another player is at the top of TSG’s list of top scorers.
Maximilian Beier has put an impressive five goals in the opponent’s net in the first seven matchdays. Before him, only Vedad Ibisevic, Anthony Modeste and Andrej Kramaric achieved this goal output at TSG Hoffenheim after such a short period. For this reason, the 21-year-old has already played his way into the national team’s sphere of influence and can hope for a first nomination in the near future.

Frankfurt form & balance check
After experiencing a season of ups and downs in the league during the preseason, Eintracht ended the season on a relatively positive note by qualifying for the Conference League. In that very Conference League, however, the performance is rather average with three points from two games.
And in the league, too, the SBU did not get off to a particularly good start. Coach Dino Topmöller’s team’s only two wins came against two promoted teams, Darmstadt and Heidenheim. And despite a rather moderate opening program, Eintracht finds itself in eighth place with ten points.
Trapp keeps the goal clean
With only five goals conceded, Eintracht currently has the best defense in the entire Bundesliga. In addition to the solid three-man backline, Eintracht’s goalkeeper also plays a huge part in this strong statistic. Kevin Trapp has meanwhile been back in Hesse since 2018 and is now an absolutely undisputed leading player.
The 33-year-old also fended off an impressive 85 percent of the shots aimed at his goal, which currently gives him the top spot in the Bundesliga statistics. With a total of 28 shots on goal saved, Trapp also has the fifth-best figure in the entire league.
Frankfurt facts & analysis
- Won 2:0 against Heidenheim before the international break.
- In 8th place in the Bundesliga
- Last season in the final of the DFB Cup
Predicted lineup – last update on October 20, 2023
The TSG Hoffenheim will again start in a 3-5-2. Central defender Ozan Kabak will probably be absent on Saturday, as will Stanley Nsoki, due to injury. Marius Bülter is available, but will probably not be in the starting lineup again despite his late goal against Bremen.
Frankfurt will again go with a 3-4-2-1. The Eagles will probably again rely on Mario Götze behind the top. There, the young Nacho Ferri recently presented himself very neatly. On Saturday in Kraichgau, however, probably Jessic Ngankam will start anyway,
