Gladbach Form & Record Check
The Gladbachers have to be careful that their current form curve does not steeply downwards. The foals are coming out of the winter break extremely modestly. After Dieter Hecking took office on the tenth matchday, it took a few games before his ideas about football were properly implemented, but in recent weeks Bochum has emerged as a stronger team. In the last five games, they have beaten direct competitors Heidenheim, Union Berlin and St. Pauli, conceded a defeat to Mainz and surprisingly drew against RB Leipzig on the last matchday.
With these points, they have brought themselves back into contention in the relegation battle. Even though they are currently still in 17th place, they are only two points behind the relegation place and five points behind the direct relegation. However, there seem to be enormous problems for VfL away from home. In their own stadium, they manage to take the atmosphere of this cauldron with them and use it to their own advantage time and again, but Dieter Hecking’s team have an extremely difficult time on foreign turf.
In the current season, they have only managed one draw in nine away games, against Union Berlin (although this game may be retrospectively counted as a win for Bochum), and have lost all of the remaining eight duels.
