SpVgg Greuther Fürth vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach
There are still six matchdays to go in the Bundesliga and this weekend Fürth and Gladbach meet on Saturday afternoon. After a good start to the second half of the season, the Cloverleafs have recently lost some ground and are without a win for six games in the Bundesliga. As a result, they are still at the bottom of the table and, according to human judgement, can no longer manage to stay in the league. They are ten points behind the relegation places, which is only theoretically possible with six games left.
Gladbach, on the other hand, can probably clinch their place in the relegation places on Saturday, because they would then have 37 points on their account, which will in all likelihood be enough. Nevertheless, the season has been a disappointment for the Foals so far. Whether we think they will take the three points on Saturday anyway, you can find out in our Fürth – Gladbach tip.

Fürth Form & Balance Check
Even though the Kleeblätter managed to win a point against Frankfurt last weekend for morale, Stefan Meyerhöfer’s serious injury overshadowed the action. The defender broke his ankle and will be out for the long term. But things are not going well for Fürth in sporting terms either, and since the victory over Hertha BSC a few weeks ago, no further three points have been added. In view of the very difficult remaining programme, staying in the league is virtually out of the question and even so, it would be almost impossible to achieve.
Will Stefan Leitl remain head coach?
Recently, rumours have been circulating that the departure of head coach Stefan Leitl in the summer is already in the bag. But the 44-year-old’s future is still unclear. It is both possible that Leitl will stay at the club and build something up again at Fürth, or that he will look for a new challenge. The coach’s reputation is still excellent in the industry, even though he has now been relegated from the Bundesliga with Fürth without a sound. Recently, rumours about Schalke have become louder and louder. However, nothing has been decided yet.
Fürth facts & analysis
– Drawn 2 times in a row last time out.
– Scored the second fewest goals of all Bundesliga teams
– Fürth have conceded the most goals
Gladbach form & balance check
Even though Gladbach have been able to rid themselves of the very big relegation worries, there is simply no consistency in their own game so far. On the last matchday, they were once again lucky to have Yann Sommer in goal, as the Swiss player held on to the one point against Mainz. Before that, they had won against Hertha and Bochum, but even those two victories were not entirely commanding. Now it’s against the next relegation candidate and three points are actually mandatory. So far, the team has always found it relatively easy against teams with poor form, so hopes of a win on Saturday are also high.
Umbreak in and with summer?
A “carry on like this”, is not acceptable in Gladbach after this season. The season was simply too disappointing for the way to continue. The departure of Matthias Ginter is fixed, behind the offensive personnel like Embolo, Thuram or Plea there are still big question marks. In any case, the key players Yann Sommer and Jonas Hofmann are to be extended. The two have also shown strong performances this season and are expected to help drive the rebuilding process. We are very excited to see what the squad will look like in the coming season.
Gladbach facts & analysis
– Last 7 points from 3 games.
– Gladbach have conceded the third most goals in the league
– Away they have a goal difference of -15 (15:30)
Predicted line-up – last update on 7 April 2022
For the home side Meyerhöfer is out as mentioned, Asta should start in his place. If Griesbeck has not yet recovered from his flu, Itter would move into central defence and Willems would start at left-back. The visitors can again count on Hofmann and Thuram, who are returning from injuries. Friedrich has abnormal blood values after the Covid infection and is expected to rest for the time being. Jordan Beyer will start again.
