Eintracht Frankfurt – FSV Mainz 05

Our Frankfurt – Mainz tip is: Frankfurt win – 5.49 odds

  • Mainz lost the last away game
  • Frankfurt won the last three direct duels at home to nil
  • The SGE has not lost to Mainz in eight games

On Saturday at noon, the Bundesliga 1 neighborhood duel between Eintracht Frankfurt and FSV Mainz 05 awaits us at Deutsche Bank Park. The eagles are currently without a win for the first time this season in four games and want to turn the tide again in front of their home crowd. Currently, Eintracht is in third place in the table with 27 points, while their opponents from Mainz are in seventh place with 22 points.

The SGE is currently struggling with its form and, after a very strong start to the season, has recently suffered two defeats in a row for the first time this season. In the Europa League, there was a 3-2 defeat against the French team from Lyon, and on the last day of the league season, there was a 2-1 defeat in Leipzig. However, since the Eagles traditionally perform strongly against Mainz, this could be the chance for the next three points against the 05ers.

The Mainzers are currently in very strong form and were able to add the first league defeat this season to the record champions from Munich on the last match day. This makes them, along with FC Barcelona, the only team this season that has been able to beat Bayern and Dortmund. However, in this game, Mainz’s top striker Jonathan Burkardt suffered a muscle injury and will be out before this important game in Frankfurt – a bitter setback for the 05ers. He will be replaced by Armindo Sieb – who was able to contribute two assists against Bayern last time out, while Lee scored twice. Find out whether Mainz will manage to get their first win against Eintracht since 2020 or whether Frankfurt will remain unbeaten in our Frankfurt – Mainz tip.

Frankfurt Form & record Check

Eintracht Frankfurt have not been beaten in their last eight Bundesliga meetings with 1. FSV Mainz 05 (four wins, four draws). Eintracht has not been unbeaten by any other Bundesliga team for so long. The last defeat against Mainz was in June 2020, when they lost 2-0 at home. Since then, Frankfurt have won all three home games against Mainz – and kept a clean sheet in each.

In the current season, Eintracht lost two competitive games in a row for the first time and went a total of four competitive games without a win (one draw, three losses). This is also a first in this season, after the club from Hesse had previously celebrated seven competitive game wins in a row.

Omar Marmoush has been particularly impressive in offense. With 20 assists (13 goals, seven assists), he is the top scorer of the Bundesliga season. However, he has recently gone without a scorer point for the first time in two Bundesliga games in a row. In August 2023, Marmoush scored the first of his 25 Bundesliga goals for Eintracht against Mainz.

Adler especially strong at home

In the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, Eintracht Frankfurt are still unbeaten at home (four wins, two draws) and only lost one home league game in the whole of 2024. This ended with 1:5 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in May. In addition, Frankfurt was the only team in this Bundesliga season to never be behind after 45 minutes (eight leads, six draws).

One weakness is evident in set-pieces: Eintracht have already conceded six goals from corners in this Bundesliga season, which only VfL Wolfsburg have surpassed in the league (seven). They have already conceded two more goals from corners than in the entire previous season.

Frankfurt facts & analysis
  • Unbeaten against Mainz for eight games
  • Marmoush top scorer in the league
  • Still unbeaten at home this season

Mainz Form & Record Check

1. FSV Mainz 05 have won four of their last five Bundesliga games (one loss) and, with 22 points from 14 games, are enjoying their best Bundesliga season in 14 years. At this point in the 2010/11 season, Mainz had 30 points. Overall, Mainz has already celebrated six victories in the current season, just one less than in the entire last season (seven in 34 games).

The last time Mainz lost away from home was the 4-3 defeat at Wolfsburg, their first away defeat in the Bundesliga since March, when they went down 8-1 at Bayern Munich. The strong first half is striking: for the first time in five Bundesliga games in a row, Mainz went into the break with a lead, which is a new club record.

One weak point remains their effectiveness from corners: FSV Mainz 05 have not scored from a corner this season – nor has FC St. Pauli. However, Mainz are strong in converting chances: with 53 percent of big chances used, they have the best ratio in the league. Of all players with at least ten big chances, Jonathan Burkardt has the best rate at 62 percent.

Lee stands out in the strong offense

With 25 goals in 14 games, FSV Mainz 05 equaled their Bundesliga club record, which was also set in the 2010-11 season. In the last five games, Mainz has scored at least twice. The last time the Rhine Hessians had a comparable streak was from May to August 2013 (six games at the time).

Lee Jae-Sung is also currently in top form: the South Korean has been directly involved in five Bundesliga games in a row (four goals, two assists). With five goals this season, he has also set a personal record for the first half of the season. Most recently, he became the first Asian player in the Bundesliga to score a brace against Bayern Munich.

Mainz Facts & Analysis
  • Best Bundesliga season in 14 years
  • Scored six times in seven away games
  • Lee has always been directly involved in a goal in the last five games

We expect SGE to play in a 4-4-2 system again under the direction of Dino Toppmöller. After four games without a win, they will build on their unbeaten home series again.

Under coach Bo Henriksen, FSV will again play in a 3-4-2-1 system. In attack, Sieb will replace the injured Burkardt.
