Eintracht Frankfurt – 1. FC Heidenheim 1846
The 7th matchday in the Bundesliga is coming up this weekend. At 7:30 pm, the last match in the German top flight will take place before the international break, during which the DFB team will travel to the USA with new coach Julian Nagelsmann. Before the eyes wander across the pond, however, the spotlight turns once again to Frankfurt’s Stadtwald. Find out which team will go home with a three-goal win on Sunday in our Frankfurt – Heidenheim tip.
However, fans should probably not expect a treat on Sunday evening. Eintracht is not necessarily known for outstanding football this season and lost 0:2 in Wolfsburg the previous week. As a result, Eintracht is now in ninth place in the table. The guest from Heidenheim will probably not rely on a brute offensive away from home either. In the previous week, however, the men from the Brenz defeated Union Berlin and thus moved up to tenth place in the table.

Frankfurt Form & Balance Check
Eintracht Frankfurt are not yet managing to deliver the desired performances under new coach Dino Topmöller. The SBU also suffered its first defeat in the Conference League during the week. Eintracht lost 1:2 late in the game in Thessaloniki.
But things are not going much better in the league at the moment either. Although the SGE only conceded their first defeat of the season in the previous week with 0:2 in Wolfsburg, the Eagles were already not particularly convincing with four draws in a row.
Götze missing
Mario Götze became immortal in the hearts of German football fans when he shot the DFB team to the World Cup title in 2014. Since then, however, his career has gone up and down more often. At Eintracht, however, he mostly returned to form in pre-season.
The 31-year-old will be suspended, however, due to his sending-off in Wolfsburg the previous week. Since his return to the Bundesliga, Eintracht have not won a game without him. Last season, there was only one defeat and one draw when he was not in the team.
Frankfurt facts & analysis
- 14 home games in a row without defeat.
- Ninth in the league
- Lost 0:2 to Wolfsburg the previous week
Heidenheim form & balance check
Last July, 1. FC Heidenheim experienced a spectacular promotion from the 2. Bundesliga to the top flight, through an eventful injury time in the last game of the season in Regensburg. At the beginning of the new season, however, the players under the leadership of coach Frank Schmidt first paid a lesson.
In the meantime, however, the team from the Brenz has arrived in the top flight and was particularly convincing in the last two home games. After the 4:2 win against Bremen, they even managed a 1:0 win against the Eisernen the week before. Heidenheim are now in tenth place in the table.
Beste and the Standards
Heidenheim have scored five of their ten goals so far this season from resting balls. In comparison, Eintracht is still waiting for a standard goal. The architect of this standard strength has a name in Heidenheim and wears the number 37.
This Bundesliga season, there have been four direct free-kick goals league-wide and half of them are to the credit of Jan-Niklas Beste from Heidenheim. The 24-year-old, a left winger, already has four assists in addition to the two free-kick goals. Against the SGE, he now plans to set up the next goal.
Heidenheim facts & analysis
- In 10th place in the Bundesliga table
- Won 1:0 against Union in their last match
- Still without an away win in the league
Predicted line-up – last update on 7 October 2023
The Eintracht will once again field their tried and tested 3-4-2-1 formation. Omar Marmoush, the goalscorer from the game against PAOK, will start again as the only top player. Mario Götze, however, will be missing for the Hessians after his sending-off in Wolfsburg.
Heidenheim, on the other hand, will again start in a 4-2-3-1, with only Kevin Sessa missing on Sunday due to injury. Therefore, we expect coach Frank Schmidt’s team to be the same as in the Union win.
