FC Everton – Ipswich
Goodison Park says goodbye – and of all teams, it is already relegated Ipswich Town who get to drop in for the farewell game of the Premier League era. Everton have long since secured their place in the league, are making transfer plans under the new Friedkin era and want to treat their fans to one last party. For Ipswich, on the other hand, it is their last away game before restarting in the Championship, the squad is depleted and morale is low. The roles could hardly be clearer, but it is the emotional atmosphere in Liverpool’s traditional stadium that adds spice to this duel.

Everton form & record check
Everton may be lacking momentum, but they are showing predictable stability: one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five league games, never scoring more than one goal. It is striking that all seven of their most recent games have been goalless in the first half, with the action concentrated in the closing stages. Defensively, Branthwaite is holding the fort, but offensively, the team lacks reliable target players due to the absences of Calvert-Lewin and Broja. Beto is working hard, but without creative support from Harrison or Alcaraz, who came on late, many of his efforts are wasted. With 38 points and in 15th place, the team has run out of steam; a worthy farewell to Goodison Park will therefore require more efficiency than has been seen recently.
Moyes is likely to stick with his pragmatic 4-2-3-1 formation: Pickford – Patterson, O’Brien, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Harrison, Doucouré, Ndiaye; Beto. James Tarkowski is still out, as are Mangala, Lindstrøm and Calvert-Lewin, while Broja is suspended. It is conceivable that Alcaraz will be brought on earlier to provide support for Ndiaye in between the lines. Otherwise, the motto is: stay compact, switch quickly – business as usual.
Ipswich form & record check
The visitors arrive with a record that reflects their relegation: only one win in five games, most recently a 0-3 defeat at Newcastle. When Ipswich lose, it’s usually after the break – in four of their last five games, they have conceded at least two goals. Curiously, Town have scored in all of those games, but always conceded at least one goal. The goal difference of minus 41 speaks volumes, as does the long injury list. Liam Delap remains virtually the only source of hope, while also being the subject of various transfer rumors. Coach Kieran McKenna is using the last few games to test young players – he has little else left to do.
Ipswich are unlikely to deviate from their usual 4-4-1-1 formation: Palmer – O’Shea, Woolfenden, Burgess, Greaves; Johnson, Morsy, Taylor, Clarke; Enciso; Delap. There are question marks over the fitness of Clarke and Greaves, and alternatives are few and far between. Should there be another absence, a reshuffle on the wings is conceivable, as the squad does not currently offer any more options.
H2H Everton – Ipswich Head-to-head & statistics
A look at the head-to-head record is quickly told: In October 2024, Everton won 2-0 in Ipswich, with both goals coming before half-time. After that, little happened – the Toffees defended confidently and Ipswich couldn’t find an answer. There is no other H2H material available, but that one game confirms the trend: Everton takes an early lead, manages the game and doesn’t concede any goals.
