The round of 16 matches of the DFB Cup are history and had one or two surprises in store for us. On Saturday, however, the Bundesliga continues with matchday 14. The cup match in Stuttgart could hardly have gone worse for BVB on Wednesday. On the one hand, Borussia put in a subterranean performance and deservedly lost 2-0 and on the other, several Dortmund players suffered injuries. The Black & Yellows are currently only in 5th place in the league and are in danger of missing out on qualification for the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the visitors from Saxony are one place above Borussia. Last weekend, RB also recorded a convincing 2:1 win against Heidenheim, a result that could have been significantly higher. Marco Rose’s team will now be looking to keep BVB at bay in Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund almost won the championship last season under coach Edin Terzic despite their weaknesses. And this season, too, BVB have lacked their usual class. However, the results are slowly turning against Borussia.

Under Jürgen Klopp, BVB developed into one of the most interesting teams in Europe and an absolute offensive firework. Even if no successor was able to repeat Klopp’s successes, a furious attack remained in BVB’s DNA for a long time. In the five full seasons under coaches Tuchel, Favre and Rose, the Black & Yellows scored an average of 80.8 goals.
And under Edin Terzic, Borussia also scored 83 goals in the previous season, although many were only scored in the furious second half of the season. However, BVB currently have just 26 goals in the league this season. Extrapolated to the games still to be played, Dortmund would stand at just 68 goals for the season at the end of the season. Leipzig Form & Balance Check
After RB Leipzig’s convincing 3-0 win over Bayern in the Supercup, many pundits had expected the Saxons to wage an intense battle for the championship. However, after the start to the season, Bayer Leverkusen appear to be in that position in the table. Leipzig, on the other hand, are only in 4th place in the table.
In the recent past, coach Marco Rose’s team has repeatedly suffered unexpected setbacks. For example, RasenBallsport lost their last two away games unnecessarily against Mainz and Wolfsburg. In the previous week, however, the Saxons delivered a convincing performance and won 2:1 against Heidenheim.

Marco Rose was coach at BVB in the 2021/22 season and led Borussia to a solid 2nd place in the table with a goal difference of 85:52. With just two points more, Edin Terzic almost won the championship with Dortmund a year later. Despite the good debut season, Rose and BVB parted ways in the summer of 2022.
With RB Leipzig, the 47-year-old is now regularly showing his former club what Borussia could have had with him. In the previous season, Rose won two of the three competitive matches against Dortmund and this season he is also above the Black & Yellows with RB.

We expect Borussia to play a 4-2-3-1 formation again. Moukoko, Sabitzer, Wolf and Ryerson all had to come off against Stuttgart on Wednesday and will probably be missing on Saturday. Nmecha and Duranville will also be out injured for BVB.
For Leipzig, meanwhile, we are again assuming a 4-2-2-2. Olmo, Werner and Orbán will still be missing through injury for the Saxons. We again expect Openda and Poulsen in the double forward line. We also expect the experienced Forsberg to be in the starting eleven
