This weekend sees the big classic on matchday 10 of the Bundesliga. The top match between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 pm. In terms of the table, it is the duel between fourth and second place. For the visitors from Munich in particular, however, more than just three points are at stake. Find out whether Borussia will be able to keep up against the record champions in our Dortmund – Bayern betting tip.
For Borussia Dortmund, it’s all about continuing their outstanding home streak on Saturday. BVB have currently gone 14 months without defeat at home. Following their success in the cup against Hoffenheim, the Black & Yellows will now be looking to get back to winning ways in the Bundesliga.
In contrast to the hosts from Dortmund, FC Bayern did not have a good evening in the DFB Cup. On Wednesday, the record champions were completely unsurprisingly defeated by 1. FC Saarbrücken from the 3rd division. In the league, however, FCB recently recorded an outstanding 8:0 win against Darmstadt

Dortmund Form & Balance Check
Borussia Dortmund conquered the top of the table in the last second half of the season despite modest performances. However, on the final matchday, BVB conceded the championship to their upcoming opponents from Munich. This season, Dortmund are back at the top of the Bundesliga despite occasional weaknesses. The black-and-yellow team currently occupies fourth place and is only four points behind the leaders from Leverkusen.
Remarkably, BVB is one of the three remaining unbeaten teams and has even won five of its last six matches in a row. Last Sunday, however, Borussia Dortmund did not manage more than a 3:3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. BVB then proved to be more confident again in the cup, winning 1:0 against league rivals Hoffenheim
Bynoe-Gittens dribbling strong
In the previous second half of the season, Donyell Malen, Sébastien Haller and Karim Adeyemi were in impressive form. At the start of this season, these three attackers once again formed Borussia Dortmund’s starting line-up. However, Haller and Adeyemi have been in an enormous slump in form since the start of the season.
In the recent cup match against Hoffenheim, up-and-coming youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens showed impressively that he can make the most of his opportunity. The 19-year-old was an absolute troublemaker in the final third against TSG and repeatedly went one-on-one. The Englishman also set up Marco Reus’ goal, which was his first goal of the year
Dortmund facts & analysis
- In 4th place in the Bundesliga
- Only one Bundesliga defeat in 2023
- Played 3:3 against Frankfurt the previous week
Bayern Form & Balance Check
Munich have actually rediscovered their dominant playing rhythm of late. In the Champions League, they have once again picked up nine points from their first three games, meaning they have not dropped a point in 16 group games in the top flight. Bayern have also remained undefeated in the Bundesliga.
Munich are currently second in the table, two points behind league leaders Leverkusen. At the weekend, FCB even won 8:0 against Darmstadt at home in the Allianz Arena. On Wednesday, however, coach Thomas Tuchel’s team suffered a huge setback. The Bavarians lost 2-1 at third-division side Saarbrücken and were knocked out of the cup in the second round for the third time in four years
Who is the Holding Six?
Coach Thomas Tuchel has already repeatedly pointed out that FC Bayern’s squad is thin on numbers. During the summer break, he pushed hard for the signing of a new ‘holding six’ in order to gain more stability. But his wish was not fulfilled. Before the clash against BVB, however, Tuchel’s warnings seem to be coming true.
Leon Goretzka is definitely out and Raphaël Guerreiro has not yet returned to action since his injury. In addition, Mazraoui has also been struggling recently, meaning that midfielder Konrad Laimer may take over the right-back role. Joshua Kimmich, the last remaining midfielder, is also missing due to a suspension. It will be interesting to see how Bayern cope with this problem
Bayern facts & analysis
- 2nd place in the Bundesliga
- Best offense in the Bundesliga
- Won 8:0 against Darmstadt in the previous week
Predicted line-up – last update on November 3, 2023
Against TSG Hoffenheim, coach Edin Terzic was quite successful in playing a little more offensively. However, we expect BVB to adopt a more defensive approach against the record champions on Saturday. Niclas Füllkrug will probably once again be the Black & Yellows’ only striker. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens will probably sit on the bench despite his strong performance in the cup.
We expect FC Bayern to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation again, with coach Thomas Tuchel facing a number of personnel problems, particularly in defense. Matthijs de Ligt and Leon Goretzka will be out injured. Joshua Kimmich will miss FCB after being sent off the previous week. Raphaël Guerreiro, Dayot Upamecano and Noussair Mazraoui are likely to return to the pitch
