FC Chelsea – Manchester United
An English week is coming up in England and with it the 31st matchday of the Premier League. With eight matchdays left in the season, the first decisions are slowly taking shape. But there are still many unanswered questions regarding the championship, relegation and, of course, the European places.
In this head-to-head clash, Manchester United travel away to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge. Two teams that are not far apart in the table and are still playing for a place in Europe. Find out who has the edge in this match and what kind of game we can expect in our Chelsea – Man United betting tip.
The last matchday was a very frustrating one for the Londoners. Against the relegation candidates from Burnley, they were outnumbered by a penalty, as the Burnley defender was shown a yellow card for this action, and also took the lead early on, as Palmer did not miss this chance. Despite this, the Blues struggled throughout the game against the relegation candidates and ended up with a 2-2 draw despite being outnumbered.
Manchester United were also held to a draw by Brentford on the final matchday. Although they took the lead in the 15th place of the Premier League in the 90th + 6th minute, they had to concede the ice-cold equalizer in the 90th + 9th minute. However, the Red Devils can even count themselves lucky over the 90 minutes, as FC Brentford hit the aluminum four times in this game

Chelsea Form & Balance Check
A season performance that definitely doesn’t live up to its own standards. This is roughly how the 2023/24 season has gone for the Blues so far. They are currently in eleventh place in the Premier League, but still have a good chance of climbing up the table given the small gap to the teams ahead of them. To do so, however, they need a win against Manchester United.
The Londoners are clearly trending upwards. They reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup before the international break and are now unbeaten in five league games. Three draws and two wins – that’s the record of the last few matches
The Cole Palmer factor
The “Golden Boy”, who arrived from Manchester City, is really coming into his own with the Blues and showing what enormous potential he has. In his 38 games this season, he has scored a total of 30 goals, making him Chelsea’s absolute top scorer. He is in really good form at the moment and has scored three times in the last three games, including a brace last weekend, and set up two goals. If Chelsea can get him involved in the game well, they can expect something against Manchester United.

Man United Form & Balance Check
It’s been a very mixed season for Manchester United so far. Although they are in a solid sixth place with 48 points, they are eight points adrift of the top five. However, the gap to the bottom is so small that they have to be careful not to get caught up in a negative series.
The Red Devils have won two and drawn one of their last five games, but have also been beaten twice. In the FA Cup, they surprisingly and very dramatically beat top-of-the-table Liverpool in extra time to reach the semi-finals
Consistency is lacking
A certain inconsistency has been creeping into the Red Devils’ performance all season. They are a team that on a good day, like in the FA Cup, can beat the team at the top of the table, but on a bad day they can easily lose to the team at the bottom of the table. The team is not able to build up a series and remain unbeaten over a longer period of time.
In February, it looked as if Manchester United had got the problems under control. With four wins in a row, they were on a good run, which came to an abrupt end with a defeat at home to the 13th-placed team in the table. Erik ten Hag’s side have only drawn three times this season and it has been a rollercoaster ride with this team. 15 wins, eleven defeats and three draws underline the lack of consistency in the game

Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues will start in a familiar 4-2-3-1 to provide the necessary defensive stability, but at the same time exude danger going forward. They are currently plagued by injury worries. It is questionable whether Sanchéz (unb. injury) will be fit in time to keep goal, otherwise Petrovic would take over again. Chilwell (knee problems) and Gusto (thigh injury) will probably not be fit in time for the full-back positions. Cucurella will take over on the left and Gilchrist will fill in on the right. Sterling and Madueke are options for the attack and attacking midfield.
Coach Erik ten Hag can draw on a full squad for this game. Only Luke Shaw is still missing due to a muscle injury. The Red Devils will also start in their usual 4-2-3-1. The experienced Casemiro could start for Mainoo in midfield this time and ex-Londoner Mount is also an option for the starting eleven.
