FC Chelsea – AFC Bournemouth

Our Chelsea – Bournemouth prediction is: Chelsea win – odds of 1.54

  • First leg: Chelsea won 1-0 away
  • Home advantage for the Blues
  • Chelsea three places ahead of the Cherries

After convincing FA Cup performances at the weekend, Chelsea and Bournemouth will face each other in the Premier League on Tuesday evening. The Blues, who beat Morecambe 5-0, want to consolidate their position in the top third of the table – they are currently ranked 4th with 36 points, just one point ahead of Newcastle. It is interesting to note that Chelsea, under Enzo Maresca, particularly flourish in the second half, as was evident in the recent cup game, in which they scored four goals after the break. You can find out everything else about the game in our Chelsea v Bournemouth betting tip.

The Cherries are also in impressive form under Andoni Iraola. The impressive 5-1 win over West Brom in the FA Cup underlined their current strength. With 33 points and just one point behind Manchester City, Bournemouth are lurking in 7th place – a position that hardly anyone would have expected before the season. It will be interesting to see if the visitors can extend their streak of five unbeaten league games at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea Form & Record Check

Chelsea’s current form is currently showing an enigmatic up and down. After two sobering defeats against Ipswich (0-2) and Fulham (1-2) in the Premier League, the team was at least able to fight back to a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Particularly striking: in the league, the team is finding it extremely difficult to score in the first half – in the last five games, they have not scored at all.

Finally a win again?

Interestingly, Chelsea then suddenly showed their full potential in the FA Cup against Morecambe (5-0). In particular, João Félix, who contributed two goals, and the recovered Christopher Nkunku, raised hopes of better times. The only question is: was that a real breakthrough or is the clear victory against a lower-league opponent deceptive?

Chelsea are currently ranked 4th in the table with 36 points, but are under pressure from Newcastle, who are just one point behind. To be honest, despite the high-quality squad, the team still looks like a construction site – this is particularly evident in the lack of consistency in their performances. It remains to be seen whether the convincing cup victory can finally be the starting point for a more stable phase.

Chelsea facts & analysis
  • 4th place in the table
  • Not won any of the last four PL games
  • Second best offense with Arsenal

Chelsea are likely to play in a 4-1-4-1 system again at home at Stamford Bridge. It will be interesting to see if Maresca makes any major changes after the FA Cup success. Jörgensen is likely to be in goal again. James, Disasi, Adarabioyo and the in-form Veiga are expected to form a back four, with Lavia as the only defensive midfielder in front of them.

In the attacking midfield, Neto and George are likely to occupy the wing positions, while Nkunku and João Félix form the creative center. Marc Guiu is the only striker. Chelsea continue to have to do without the injured Badiashile, and Mudryk is also missing through suspension. Chukwuemeka, who is ill, is questionable.

Bournemouth Form & Record Check

Bournemouth are currently in impressive form and have not lost a single game in their last five matches. Particularly impressive was the recent 5-1 win in the FA Cup against West Brom, in which Andoni Iraola’s team impressively demonstrated their offensive power. David Brooks was a creative force with two assists, which also earned him special praise from his coach.

Will the unbeaten streak continue?

The Cherries have worked their way up to seventh place in the Premier League and are sniffing at the international places, just one point behind Manchester City. Their defensive stability is particularly noteworthy – in the league, they have recently kept clean sheets against Crystal Palace (0-0) and in the 1-0 win over Everton. The highlight was surely the surprisingly clear 3-0 away win at Manchester United.

What is particularly striking at the moment is that Bournemouth are proving to be extremely effective, especially in the second half. In 80% of their last matches, the team has scored after the break – a rate that speaks to the team’s excellent fitness and tactical flexibility. With this form behind them, even an away game at Stamford Bridge should no longer feel like an impossible task.

Bournemouth facts & analysis
    • Eight PL duels without defeat
    • 7th place in the table
    • Lost against Chelsea in the first leg

Based on the information, the likely formation is a 4-2-3-1 system in which Bournemouth plans to play

Chelsea – Bournemouth head to head & statistics

The last five direct duels between Chelsea and Bournemouth show a clear dominance of the Blues. Of the most recent encounters, Chelsea have won four and one game ended in a draw. The series of three consecutive away wins – most recently in September 2024 with a narrow 1-0 win – is interesting.

The Blues also have an impressive home record against the Cherries. Chelsea won their last home game in May 2024 2-1, before that there was a commanding 2-0 victory in December 2022.

What is striking is that Bournemouth find it extremely difficult to score against Chelsea. They have not scored in three of the last five games. The only goalless draw was in September 2023. To be honest, the statistics speak for themselves here – the Cherries are still waiting for their first victory in this fixture.

The goal scoring has been modest, with a maximum of three goals scored in four of the five encounters. Only in Chelsea’s 3-1 away win in May 2023 were more goals scored.

It will be interesting to see if Bournemouth can finally break this clear negative record against the Blues. However, the numbers from the recent past tell a different story.
