Burnley FC vs. Everton FC

For many Christmas lovers a farce, but for football fanatics the true reason for Christmas cheer. Boxing Day in the Premier League, which has been around for over 150 years, takes place on 26 December. This day is the highlight of the European football year. While some may want to spend some reflective time with the family, football fans from all over the world are drawn to the stadiums and the TV sets.

Nine Premier League matches take place throughout the day. This year, as of now, there are unfortunately only seven matches, as two games have already been cancelled due to Corona. The clash between Burnley and Everton is also in danger of being called off. However, we assume the best and prepare you. With our Burnley – Everton tip you get all the useful information you need for a good bet.

No one is surprised that Burnley FC has to fight against relegation every year. But the fact that Everton are also in the lower part of the table is one of the biggest surprises of the first half of the season. While eight points clear of a relegation place is still comfortable, a 14th place finish still looks more than meagre.

Burnley Form & Balance Check

Burnley FC have been very weak so far this season. After the 15 games already played, they have only been able to celebrate one win. On top of that, they have drawn eight points. The big problem of the Clarets is that they are extremely weak offensively. 14 goals from 15 games are clearly too few. However, it must also be mentioned that the current table situation is somewhat deceptive. Burnley, for example, have played three games less than Leeds. Due to the catch-up games, the Clarets will be able to make up some points in the future with a bit of luck.

Title Defensive

As mentioned earlier, the Clarets’ offense is the big problem. However, if you look at the other part of the team, the defence, the veteran is ready for Europe. Well, Europe is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration. Nevertheless, Burnley’s very strong defence must be appreciated. For example, they have conceded fewer goals than Arsenal in fourth place.

Burnley facts & analysis
 – Currently in a relegation place
 – Only one win scored
 – Very weak offence
 – But very strong defence
 – Last game on 12/12, therefore no game rhythm

Everton form & balance check

The Toffees are currently in the bottom of the table. Since Carlo Ancelotti left the club for Real Madrid, things have gone downhill. Rafa Benitez’s succession was then the biggest surprise so far this season. Many fans were not very enthusiastic about this signing because of his Liverpool past. Nevertheless, the Spaniard had already proven several times that he is a world-class coach. However, he is not showing that at the moment. Everton are in an unacceptable 14th place in the table. They also have a very weak attack. The club’s top brass on Merseyside have certainly envisaged this season being different.

New reinforcement

Apparently Everton have a new addition. Vitaliy Mykolenko is set to join the Toffees from Dynamo Kiev in January. The 22-year-old left-back has been a Ukraine international since 2018. He now has 21 caps under his belt. We will see how much the new defensive man can help and if he is worth his almost 23 million euros.

Everton facts & analysis
 – Everton very weak since departure of Ancelotti
 – Currently 14th place
 – Very weak offense
 – Already signed new left-back

Predicted lineup – last update on 24 Dec 2021

The personnel situation is very critical for both teams. They have to deal with some corona cases. Who will finally be available for the match on Boxing Day is not entirely clear. Therefore, an exact line-up is difficult to predict.
