Werder Bremen vs. RB Leipzig
Now it’s really that time. The last matchday of the Bundesliga is upon us before all nominated players are allowed to travel with their national teams to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Among others, the leader of the Bundesliga scoring list Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig will travel to the World Cup for France. Until then, the 24-year-old still has to manage one more game in the day-to-day business with his club. After the Saxons won the top game of the English week against Freiburg 3:1 during the week, RB Leipzig are now on a streak of three three-goal wins in a row for the first time this season. Coach Marco Rose’s team will be looking to extend this record on Saturday in Bremen.
Werder Bremen did not win during the week. Quite the opposite, in fact, as coach Ole Werner’s team went down 1:6 at FC Bayern. For the promoted team, this defeat was the highest defeat of the season. With Rasenball comes a team that is not much easier to play against. However, Werder won two home games in a row before the defeat in Munich, which is why their self-confidence is still there before kick-off against RB. Whether the SVW will go into the winter break with two defeats in a row, you can read in our Bremen – Leipzig betting tip.

Bremen Form & Balance Check
It didn’t just happen to Werder Bremen last Tuesday evening that a promoted team lost significantly against FC Bayern Munich. A clear 1:6 defeat still hurts. Coach Ole Werner’s team must put this result out of their minds as quickly as possible in order to be able to keep up against the goal machine from Leipzig on Saturday.
Werder has no reason to hide against Leipzig, as the North Germans are not in a relegation battle like fellow promoted Schalke. Before the defeat at the record champion, Werder won 1:0 against Hertha and 2:1 over Schalke. Both victories were celebrated by Werner’s team at home in the Weser Stadium, which is why their chest should still be broad.
Defensive gaps again
FC Bayern Munich became the first team since Eintracht Frankfurt to score three goals against Werder Bremen on Matchday 4. In fact, Werder managed to concede a maximum of one goal in seven of their last nine Bundesliga matches. Only Mainz and Freiburg scored more than once against Bremen within the last nine games of the promoted team. With 25 goals now conceded in 14 games, the North Germans nevertheless conceded the most of any team up to 12th place in the table.
Bremen facts & analysis
– Bremen are in 7th place in the table with 21 points.
– Most recently Werder lost 1:6 at FC Bayern Munich

Leipzig form & balance check
RB Leipzig are, together with FC Bayern Munich, the team of the moment in the German top flight. Marco Rose turned the club from a birthplace around 180 degrees and brought RB back on the road to success. Not only did Rasenball reach the last 16 of the Champions League, but they also recently climbed to a European Cup place in the Bundesliga.
The Sachen beat SC Freiburg 3:1 on Wednesday evening and thus the previous second in the table. Now Leipzig have only two points difference to the 2nd place. The success over the Breisgauer was the third as a result of everyday business. Leverkusen and Hoffenheim also lost to RB. Of the last five games, the 3-3 draw against FC Augsburg represents the only game that Rasenball did not win.
Winning mentality is back
After RB Leipzig finished last season by winning the DFB Cup, the Saxons lost their winning mentality under predecessor Tedesco. Marco Rose not only brought back success, but also the feeling of winning. In fact, RB’s players probably don’t even know what it’s like to lose anymore. Under Marco Rose, Leipzig has been unbeaten for twelve games. The 46-year-old has now been in charge for 16 competitive games and lost two games with RB. Leipzig have been unbeaten since the 3-0 defeat in Mönchengladbach on 17 September. If the visitors do not lose in Bremen, the Saxons will be unbeaten for almost 100 days when the second half of the season begins.
Leipzig facts & analysis
– Leipzig are in 5th place in the table with 25 points.
– RB won three games in a row in the Bundesliga
– The Saxons are unbeaten for twelve competitive matches
Predicted line-up – last update on 10 November 2022
Coach Ole Werner will have to do without only two players due to injury in the home match against Leipzig. Agu is out with patella tendon problems and Mbom is still suffering from a torn Achilles tendon. Werder will also play a 3-5-2 system against Rasenball, with Weiser on the right side. Füllkrug and Ducksch are expected to provide goals.
Leipzig coach Marco Rose also has three players unavailable due to injury – Werner (ankle syndesmosis tear), Gulacsi (cruciate ligament tear) and Laimer (ankle syndesmosis injury). With Werner out, Szoboszlai became a regular on the right wing. The Hungarian forms a four-man attack with Silva, Nkunku and Forsberg. Marco Rose prefers an attacking 4-2-3-1 system, but also lets a 4-4-2 play.
