Bremen Form & Balance Check
At the beginning of November, a first rough wind blew up on the Weser, because SV Werder was in 13th place in the table at that time and had only three wins after 13 games. But then coach Ole Werner and his team managed to turn things around. The North Germans did not lose a single game after the defeat in Stuttgart and are now unbeaten in seven matches.
They have also won three games in the second half of the season, even though their opponents Bayern, Freiburg and Mainz were anything but easy. SVW picked up their second 1-0 away win in a row against Die Nullfünfer the previous week. Bremen are now in ninth place in the table and have the European places in sight
Ducksch scores
In pre-season, the ugly birds ruled the Bremen attack. Marvin Ducksch and Niclas Füllkrug together contributed a total of 28 goals and 13 assists. This season, however, the 29-year-old Ducksch has to make do without his congenial partner, but is doing so impressively.
The two-time German international is once again regularly demonstrating his instincts in front of goal. He has netted four times in the last six Bundesliga games, making a significant contribution to his team’s positive run. In total, the Dortmund native already has nine goals and five assists for the season
Bremen facts & analysis
- In ninth place in the Bundesliga
- Without defeat in seven games
- Leading the table in the second half of the season
Heidenheim Form & Balance Check
1. FC Heidenheim celebrated an unexpected promotion from Bundesliga 2 in the previous season. Before the season, coach Frank Schmidt’s men went into the season as genuine underdogs. But so far, Heidenheim have managed to upset the established Bundesliga teams very well. This has been particularly successful in the last seven games.
The men from the Ostalb have not conceded a defeat in this period. Heidenheim also held their own against Borussia Dortmund in the previous week and, all in all, would even have deserved a win. In the end, however, the score was a respectable 0-0, leaving the Bundesliga newcomers in a very good 10th place in the table
Dinkçi against the club itself
On matchday 13, Eren Dinkçi was missing from the clash against RB Leipzig due to a yellow card suspension. Heidenheim missed the player on loan from Bremen considerably and the number of goalscoring opportunities remained limited. Since his return, however, the 21-year-old has been unstoppable and has played a key role in Heidenheim’s impressive run, which has not seen them lose since.
Dinkçi has also found the net seven times this Bundesliga season, making him Heidenheim’s top scorer. He will now be aiming to repeat his outstanding performance from the first leg against his former employers, in which he scored twice.
The German-Turk is also extremely efficient, clearly exceeding his xG value. With a finishing efficiency of +4.7, he even ranks second in the league, with only Harry Kane ahead of him
Heidenheim facts & analysis
- In tenth place in the Bundesliga
- Best promoted team
- Without defeat in seven games
We expect the hosts from Bremen to play in a 3-5-2 formation on Saturday, with Marvin Ducksch and Justin Njinmah once again forming the front two. Naby Keïta is back from the Africa Cup but will not be in the starting eleven.
We expect a 4-2-3-1 formation again at Heidenheim, with Kleindienst, Beste and Dinkçi once again together up front at the Weserstadion. We don’t expect any other changes to the starting eleven either
