Three consecutive league wins have catapulted Real Betis to 7th place in the table, and with just one point behind Getafe, they are even in contention for an international spot. On Sunday evening, Manuel Pellegrini’s team welcomes RCD Mallorca to the Estadio de La Cartuja, with the visitors from the Balearic Islands likely to arrive in high spirits after their impressive 3-1 away win in Seville. With 16 points, the Andalusians are in a solid position, while Mallorca, in 16th place with nine points, are still fighting to avoid relegation. Betis have recently put in strong performances both in the league against Espanyol and in the cup against Palma del Río, with young Pablo García particularly impressing with two goals in the cup. The head-to-head record speaks for itself: three wins in a row for Betis, five games with a maximum of two goals and the Balearic Islands without a goal against the Sevillanos in five games.

  • Venue: Estadio de La Cartuja, Seville
  • Date and time: November 2, 2025, 9:00 p.m.
  • Competition: La Liga (Matchday 11)

Betis are clear favorites going into the game, which is reflected in odds of around 1.6 for a home win. Their strong form, including a 7-1 cup win with two goals from Pablo García, and their good home record at La Cartuja, where they have won three of their four league games, underpin this assessment. However, the absence of Junior Firpo weakens the defense considerably. The “Over 2.5 goals” option seems statistically plausible, as both teams have scored at least two goals in around 80 percent of their recent games and Mallorca has scored in all five of its most recent league games. Betis has conceded in four of its last five games, and both sides are missing key players such as Isco for Betis and Marash Kumbulla for Mallorca, which could affect the defensive strength of both teams. The odds of around 4.2 for a draw seem less attractive in comparison. “Both teams to score” is also well-founded, as Mallorca has scored in every game under Arrasate and Betis has conceded goals in around 80 percent of its matches.

Betis Form & Record Check

Real Betis is currently in 7th place with 16 points and has been in inconsistent form, with a narrow away win at Espanyol (1-2), a 2-2 draw at Villarreal, and most recently a 0-2 home defeat to Atlético Madrid. Defensively, Betis has conceded goals in four of its last five competitive games and appears particularly vulnerable in the first half, with the team often finding its rhythm after the break. The 7-1 Copa victory against lower-league Palma del Rio, with goals from Riquelme, Pablo García, Altimira, Llorente, and Abde, is of limited significance due to the difference in class. In the Europa League, the 0-0 draw at Genk earned them a point, but also highlighted their offensive weakness. The league table remains tight: just one point behind Getafe (6th place) and two points ahead of Rayo Vallecano (8th place). The injuries to Junior Firpo and Isco are a heavy blow, with Isco not expected back until mid-November and Junior Firpo possibly returning at the end of November. After ten matchdays, Betis is still well in the race for international places, but above all needs to remedy its initial defensive weakness.

Manuel Pellegrini is expected to stick with his usual 4-2-3-1 formation. The likely starting lineup is: Goalkeeper: Pau López; Defense: Ricardo Rodríguez on the left, two of Natan, Llorente or Bartra as center backs, Héctor Bellerín on the right; Defensive midfielders: Sofyan Amrabat and Marc Roca; Attacking midfielder: Giovani Lo Celso; Wingers: Abde on the left and Antony on the right; striker: Cucho Hernández. Isco is definitely out, Junior Firpo is also unavailable, so Rodriguez is planned to play at left-back. Rodriguez should be fit again after being rested in Genk. The return of Sofyan Amrabat strengthens the defensive midfield, Marc Roca is likely to take the second half position alongside him, while Lo Celso will take on the creative role behind the striker. The two center-back positions alongside Bellerín and Rodríguez remain the most exciting personnel decision ahead of the game, with Natan, Llorente, and Bartra competing for the starting spots.

Mallorca Form & Record Check

RCD Mallorca has been in rising form recently: Coach Jagoba Arrasate’s team has picked up seven points from its last four league games, climbing to 16th place. Particularly impressive was the 3-1 comeback win in Seville, which was important mentally. Mallorca has scored at least once in each of its last five games, although it is noticeable that the team typically only gets going after the break. In none of the last five games have more than 1.5 goals been scored before the break, while in four of the five games at least one goal has been scored in the second half. The 1-1 draw against Levante was disappointing after the 1-0 home win against Alavés. During the week, there was a 2-0 cup win at sixth-division Sant Just, with Abdón Prats scoring twice. In that game, Nacho was shown a red card in the 24th minute, but the suspension only applies to the cup and does not affect the upcoming league game against Betis. With nine points, Mallorca shares the same record as Real Sociedad and is just behind Levante, although the goal difference of minus four points to a still vulnerable defense. Marash Kumbulla is still out with a thigh injury and is not expected to return until mid-November at the earliest.

Jagoba Arrasate is expected to stick with his tried-and-tested 3-4-2-1 system, which worked well in Seville last time out. The expected line-up: Goal: Román; Three-man defense: Valjent, Raíllo, López, with Kumbulla still out with a thigh injury; Wings: Maffeo on the right, Mojica on the left; Central midfield: Costa and Mascarell as double sixes; Attacking midfield: Darder and Rodríguez for creative moments behind the striker; Striker: Muriqi as the lone striker. Torre is waiting on the bench as a technically skilled substitute who has been impressive recently and is looking for more playing time.

Betis – Mallorca Head-to-head comparison & statistics

Real Betis has clearly dominated recent head-to-head encounters with Mallorca: Betis has won four of the last five games, with Mallorca winning once, 2-1, in September 2024. The games have been low-scoring and defensive overall, with no goals scored at halftime in any of the five games and no more than one goal scored in any of the second halves. Betis scored in every encounter, while Mallorca failed to score on three occasions. The Sevillanos are on a run of three consecutive wins against Mallorca, most recently 1-0 in January 2025 in Mallorca. Mallorca conceded at least one goal in all five games, indicating recurring defensive problems against Betis.
