Arsenal FC vs. Manchester United
Arsenal FC and Manchester United meet in the top match of the Premier League this weekend. For both clubs it is already the second top match within one week. Both played catch-up games during the week, but with very different results. While the Gunners won the London derby 4-2 at Chelsea FC, the Red Devils lost 4-0 at Liverpool. Kick-off in the head-to-head clash is at 13:30 Central European Time on Saturday.
Neither Arsenal nor Man United have anything to do with the Premier League title this season. City and Liverpool are already too far behind. But both the Gunners and the Red Devils want to play in the Champions League next season. As things stand, however, it will probably not be enough for at least one of the two heavyweights. That makes the three points in the direct duel all the more important. Who we see in front on Saturday and what other predictions we have for this top match, you can find out in our Arsenal vs Man United tip.

Arsenal Form & Balance Check
The Gunners are making a comeback. After three defeats in a row, against supposedly weaker teams, they squandered their good starting position in the battle for the top division. With the somewhat surprising, but by no means undeserved 4:2 away win at Chelsea, they sent out a sign of life again on Wednesday.
Together with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, the Gunners are competing for fourth place in the Premier League. That’s where Spurs currently stand with 57 points. Arsenal, however, only occupy the place behind them due to the worse goal difference. Man United, on the other hand, are almost a little behind. The Red Devils have 54 points on their account and have already played one game more than the two London clubs. A defeat against Arsenal is likely to rob United of any chance of returning to the Champions League next season.
Four top games in three weeks
After three defeats against teams from the bottom half of the table (0:3 against Crystal Palace, 1:2 against Brighton & Hove and 0:1 against Southampton), the weeks of truth dawned for Arsenal Football Club on Wednesday. The Gunners managed to win the match against Chelsea (3.). But with Man United (6th), West Ham United (7th) and Tottenham Hotspur (4th) they still have to face three more top teams in the remaining six league games. However, they still have their first appearance in the top flight since the 2016/17 season in their own hands.
Arsenal facts & analysis
– Won 1 of last 4 league games (3 defeats).
– 8 goals conceded in last 4 league matches
– Lost 2 home games in a row
Man United form & balance check
As mentioned earlier, a defeat in London will also see the Champions League dream burst. United are currently three points behind both Tottenham (4th) and Arsenal (5th) with one game more on the account. But even with a win in London, the English record champions no longer have a place in the top flight in their own hands. United have won “only” two of their last seven league games. During the week, the Red Devils were clearly outclassed in the tradition-steeped duel with Liverpool FC and lost clearly with 0:4.
Man United without CR7
Cristiano Ronaldo will not play in London either. The Portuguese is mourning the tragic death of one of his newborn twin children and has already missed Man United at Liverpool. It is uncertain whether he will play for the Red Devils again this season. Since his return to the English record champions, the 37-year-old has missed a total of seven competitive matches. United could only win one of these seven games. In the league, they remained winless four times without CR7.
Man United facts & analysis
– Won 1 of last 4 league games.
– Lost 3 away games in a row
– Goal difference of 1:9 in last three away matches
Predicted line-up – last updated 21 April 2022
After a dismal performance at Liverpool with just two shots and 28 per cent possession, we expect Manchester United to be changed in several positions against Arsenal. The experiment with the three-man backline is likely to be scrapped by Ralf Rangnick. We also expect him to leave the disappointing Paul Pogba on the bench and bring Jadon Sancho back from the start. In place of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford will probably once again occupy the centre of the attack. With Edison Cavani missing a real striker alternative due to injury. In defence, the Red Devils will still have to do without Raphaël Varane and Luke Shaw. In addition, Fred, a midfield back-up, is absent.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have only one real absentee. With Kieran Tierney, the established left-back is missing until the end of the season. As against Chelsea, we expect Nunu Tavares on the left side of defence. Right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu and striker Alexandre Lacazette are also unlikely candidates for the starting eleven after recovering from injuries on Saturday, but may have hopes of a substitution.
