Chelsea FC vs. Norwich City
Not only in Germany the ball is rolling this weekend, but also the Premier League continues this October weekend. On Saturday at 1:30 pm Chelsea FC welcomes promoted Norwich City for a duel with clearly distributed roles. The league leader meets the bottom of the table, which on paper is a clear affair. But Norwich, coached by German Daniel Farke, will do everything in their power to upset the Blues and take home something worthwhile. Find out whether we think they can do this in our Chelsea vs Norwich tip.
Chelsea are at the top of the Premier League table with 19 points after eight matchdays. Six wins and only one defeat are a strong record, and the Blues are still extremely difficult to beat under Thomas Tuchel. Norwich, on the other hand, are already under pressure after last year’s promotion, with just two points from their first eight games. The Canaries are yet to win and have already lost six of their last eight matches.

Chelsea Form & Balance Check
Chelsea FC have carried the momentum into the new season after winning the Champions League title last season. The Blues got off to an excellent start, going unbeaten in seven wins in their first eight competitive games. Then came a bit of an interlude with two 1-0 defeats to Manchester City and Juventus Torino, but they bounced back with three straight wins. This strong start to the season has put Chelsea in a very good position in all competitions.
Concerns over Lukaku and Werner
During the week, however, there was bad news for the Blues despite their more than commanding 4-0 win over Malmö FF. Both Timo Werner and summer newcomer Romelu Lukaku were injured during the game, and according to Tuchel, both are likely to be out for longer. This means that the German coach is missing both of his regular strikers, as Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham left the club before the season. However, it is possible that Kai Havertz, who has been in a slump of form lately, will also benefit from this position.
Chelsea Facts & Statistics
– Currently 1st place in the PL
– Only 1 defeat in the league.
– Best defence in the league with 3 goals conceded
– Last win 4:0 against Malmö
Norwich form & balance check
The Canaries are right back in the relegation battle after promotion. Norwich have not won any of their eight league games so far and have lost six in a row to start the season. They have only two points on their account and have only scored two goals. Both are the worst figures in the league. Defensively, things don’t look much better, with 16 goals conceded, the second-worst defence in the Premier League. At least Norwich have managed to score on each of the last two matchdays and remain without conceding a goal, with the two most recent games both ending 0-0.
Can Norwich avoid relegation again?
After just eight matchdays, it’s already looking strongly like Norwich fans will have to get used to the idea of the second division again. The season is still young, of course, but should that indeed happen, it would be their fourth relegation in the last eight years. The Canaries are struggling with the woes of a typical lift team, too good for the second division but also too weak for the first. However, Daniel Farke’s team still has enough time to avert the worst.
Norwich facts & analysis
– Last in the Premier League
– Only two points and two goals
– Last played 0-0 against Brighton
Predicted line-up – last updated 21 Oct 2021
With the strike duo of Lukaku and Werner out, our money is on the creative trio of Mount, Havertz and Ziyech in attack at Chelsea. Should Tuchel want to go for greater rotation after the Champions League, the fresh Hudson-Odoi, Marcos Alonso, Saul Niguez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also available. Norwich coach Farke could leave his starting eleven unchanged after the recent solid performance against Brighton, which started well. Ex-Bremer Rashica could also be a better forward option than teammate Sargent with his speed.
