Wimbledon today – Matches on July 5

Who will secure the last tickets for the round of 16 at Wimbledon? We will find out today. There are some interesting matches in store, including Sebastian Ofner, who is in the mix after his somewhat surprising victory over Tommy Paul.

In the third round, he will have to hold his own against Grigor Dimitrov, a very uncomfortable opponent with good technique and a good repertoire of grass court tennis. Can Ofner flourish again as the underdog? You can find the odds for the match later in the text.

In today’s Wimbledon tips, I also take a look at the cream of the crop in tennis. In the Serbian duel, seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic will try to defeat Miomir Kecmanovic, which will be the toughest task yet for the record Grand Slam champion.

So far, he has not dropped a set and has saved all five break points he has faced. On his way to the title, he would face Sinner in the semifinals, provided the South Tyrolean wins all of his matches.

Wimbledon today – July 5, 2025

Sinner is up against Pedro Martinez, and I’m expecting another smooth victory. Like Djokovic, he hasn’t had to work overtime so far, playing only six sets and avoiding tiebreaks.

The world number one is still missing the Wimbledon title. So far, he has won the Australian Open twice and the US Open in 2024. In 2023, he reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, and last year he made it to the quarter-finals, losing in the fifth set to Daniil Medvedev.

Iga Swiatek has also yet to lift the trophy on the hallowed turf, currently sitting in an unusually “weak” fourth place in the world rankings, having even dropped to eighth at one point.

She is turning up the heat at Wimbledon and now has to hold her own against a player who actually wanted to retire from tennis. But after her coup in Miami in 2024 and further successes, she has decided to play a few more matches.

Wimbledon today, July 5: Cilic – Munar (1:30 p.m.)

I am very excited to see how Cilic progresses in the tournament. He is a really tough opponent on grass. Especially when the 1.98-meter man has a great day serving, as he did against Draper. He gave away just 13 points on his first serve out of 59.

Munar is definitely one of the surprises in the third round. He was the clear underdog against Bublik, but he managed to defeat him, just like Fabian Marozsan, and impressed with his good defensive play. However, I expect Cilic to have significantly more chances on the return.

My expert tip: Cilic to win

Wimbledon betting today 05.07.: Dimitrov – Ofner (1:30 p.m.)

After his long injury break, it’s great to see Ofner getting better and better. After Hamad Medjedovic had to retire due to injury, the Austrian also managed to defeat Paul. Now he faces his first match against Dimitrov.

Dimitrov has already reached the semi-finals in London and triumphed at Queen’s Club a few years ago. However, he struggled somewhat against Corentin Moutet and is currently playing his first matches since the French Open, so his lack of rhythm is understandable.

My expert tip: Over 3.5 sets

Tennis betting today 05.07.: Sinner – Martinez (2:30 p.m.)

The world number one is plowing through the early rounds, but he hasn’t had to face any big names on grass yet, with Luca Nardi and Aleksandar Vukic not exactly setting the world alight. Martinez is ranked 52nd, but has won just a third of his matches on this surface.

Martinez also lacks the ability to put Sinner under pressure. Neither his serve nor his game speed are outstanding. The world’s best return player should quickly get his breaks again. However, I don’t rate him so low that he will lose with a comfortable 10.5 game lead.

My expert tip: Martinez to win (+10.5 games)

Wimbledon today, July 5: Swiatek – Collins (4:30 p.m.)

Swiatek lacks a little speed in her shots, but scores with her precision and defensive work, running her last opponents from corner to corner. Collins will try to keep the rallies short and defeated Swiatek on her favorite surface about two months ago.

She has marched through the field at a rapid pace so far, hardly allowing anything on her own serve, giving up just twelve percent of return points against Veronika Erjavec. In any case, she has the perfect antidote for Swiatek on this surface.

My expert tip: Collins to win the set

Tennis betting today 05.07.: Kecmanovic – Djokovic (6:00 p.m.)

Will Djokovic break a sweat now? The Serb is the center of attention these days. He knows that this may be his last chance to win his 25th Grand Slam title. On hard courts, he is now clearly lagging behind Sinner.

He has defeated Kecmanovic three times in three meetings, most recently at Wimbledon 2022, a clear three-set victory. The matches were particularly break-heavy. Since even a 3-0 win for Djokovic is not profitable and too risky, I am therefore choosing the following odds from Betano.

My expert tip: No tiebreak
