Wimbledon today – Matches on July 2
Unusual weather and unusual results in the first round at Wimbledon. In the heat of Wimbledon, Alexander Zverev failed to overcome the hurdle named Arthur Rinderknech. The Frenchman did not drop a single service game in five sets.
The Olympic champion will therefore have to wait longer for his first Grand Slam title. In addition, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, and Lorenzo Musetti are three more players from the top 10 who have already been eliminated, which is practically half!
Will the favorites continue to fall? In today’s Wimbledon tips, I’ll be focusing on the first second-round matches in the women’s and men’s competitions. All three remaining German tennis aces are in action on Wednesday, and we’ve included them in today’s overview, of course.
Jan-Lennard Stuff is still flying the black, red, and gold flag in the men’s singles, but he has a tough task ahead of him against Felix Auger-Aliassime. At least his form was better in the first round than in previous tournaments.

Struff has virtually no chance of winning the title, but he has reached the final on the Stuttgart grass before. And the women? Eva Lys is still inexperienced on this surface, celebrating her first set and match win in the first round.
Laura Siegemund has already defeated one or two big names this year. She has good power, but in her long career she has only won every second match on average. Today she faces Leylah Annie Fernandez.
I also have two individual predictions from the men’s world elite for you. The tournament winner of the past two years, Carlos Alcaraz, will face Oliver Tarvet. He is ranked 733rd in the world and celebrated the biggest success of his career so far after marching through the qualifiers in the first round.
And then there’s a certain Taylor Fritz, who, like Alcaraz, fought his way through five sets to ultimately prevail against mega-server Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard. Particularly spectacular: he had to return the fastest Wimbledon serve of all time (246 km/h) and won the point!
Wimbledon broadcast today: Where are the matches being played on July 2?
Like in 2024, the Wimbledon matches will be broadcast live on Prime Video. However, the streaming service does not have all matches in its program. Wimbledon betting today, July 2: Fernandez – Siegemund (12:00 p.m.)
Fernandez and Siegemund are facing each other for the first time in a professional match, and I think the 4.00 odds for the German are definitely too high. She has more speed in her shots and delivered a really good first-round match, winning 80 percent of her first serves.
Her Canadian opponent recently lost in the second round at Bad Homburg and, despite a clear victory, struggled mightily with her serve. And she didn’t have much going for her before the grass season, so there’s definitely a chance for Siegemund!

Wimbledon today, July 2: Lys – Noskova (3:00 p.m.)
With good angles and footwork, Lys fought her way to her first Wimbledon victory. She could have sealed the deal in the second set, but showed some nerves in the meantime. Linda Noskova is now a completely different player. Especially since two other Czech women have triumphed at Wimbledon in recent years.
Noskova recently reached the semi-finals in Bad Homburg and was previously in the quarter-finals in Nottingham, celebrating more than half of her ten grass court victories this year alone. She also has a clean slate against Lys.
My expert tip: 2:0 Noskova
Tennis betting today 02.07.: Auger-Aliassime – Struff (2:50 p.m.)
We have double the expertise for this match, and even better: Isabella and I came up with the same odds without consulting each other. “Struffi” and “FAA” are well versed in long Grand Slam matches, and their only major duel so far also lasted four sets.
Auger-Aliassime won in the end, in January at the Australian Open. Struff has not been back to his best since his hip problems. His opponent has delivered mixed performances on grass so far.

Tennis betting today 02.07.: Tarvet – Alcaraz (4:00 p.m.)
Alcaraz at Grand Slams is always a tricky thing. Andrea Petkovic once said that Alcaraz tends to lose focus quickly against players he clearly has under control. But he’s there when it counts, as he showed in the fifth set against Fognini, without wanting to detract from the veteran’s performance.
Nevertheless, his string of errors and miserable, lackluster returns make betting on the Spaniard anything but easy. Tarvet played well in qualifying and also performed impressively in the smaller tournaments beforehand. I expect that with the home crowd behind him, he won’t suffer a complete defeat against the defending champion.
My expert tip: Tarvet to win (+9.5 games)
Wimbledon today, July 2: Fritz – Diallo (5:30 p.m.)
Fritz will be back on court on the third day of the tournament after having to finish the match that was interrupted on Monday. Now he faces the next strong server. Diallo is climbing the world rankings and has a really powerful forehand.
